Noticed there'd been a lot of "list things you hate/dislike" type threads over the past few weeks.
Nothing wrong with that; can be cathartic to vent. Opinions are valid. ?
That said, let's take a turn in the other direction and gush about some of the things we like.
Specifically studios that one adores.
(We'll leave individual creators for another thread)
Be-it, they make one of your favorite games or they consistently make games you dig, lets hear it.
Past, present, and future tense apply.
I'll start.
The cats formally know as simply "Japan Studio" have had their hands in some of my favorite games ever.
From Bloodborne to Gravity Rush; Ape Escape to ICO and beyond, they've played a role in some of the best... of the best! Consistently
If you're of a certain age or have certain retro-interest you've come across SEGA-AM2.
Yu Suzuki's old crew. A sizable chunck of Sega's heavy-hitter titles come from these guys.
Virtua Fighter, Daytona, Outrun. All good stuff. They still the crew in charge of Virtua Fighter, so here's hoping they keep things groovy.
Atlus been doin' their thang for DECADES.
And they they hit the mainstream... and they they still doin' their thang.
One can't help but worry when a company gets big or has a hit... they they'll try to hard to reproduce it.. of get mismanaged into oblivion by "seagulls".
These cats aren't about that life, IMO. Love em'!

Consistently at the helm of or supporting some of Nintendo's (and the medium's best works).

Looking at their catalog of works, there's games on there I love that I had no idea they were involved with. They're frankly amazing.
NGL, I see the "IS" logo on something, I damn-near instantly sold.
Currently BandiNamco. They've had their ups and downs.
I'm reaching back to around 1997-2005; Yeah they were having financial trouble, but hot-damn, were they pumping out the good stuff then.
I, to this day, still can't get enough of joints like R4, Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 2, and Katamari Damacy.
I could go on about Level 5... for a long time.
I won't. But, I could.
What a trajectory, though!
Straight from their own wild imaginations (Dark Cloud 1 & 2) straight to one of the most beloved Dragon Quest titles ever.
And plenty after.
I feel like they should be celebrated more. More time in the spotlight. They've earned it for sure.
Few studios know how to brew a tactile gaming experience like Insomniac.
Spyro, for sure is a classic. But if you haven't already, go out now and play the Original Ratchet & Clank trilogy.

I like Spider-Man just fine, but I've got to be honest, I'm a little sad to see they've been relegated to effectively being a "Marvel Properties Studio" for what looks like the next decade-and-a-half.
Some really creative and special people there. And a catalog of works that are unmatched.
So, I think I've gone on enough.
I've more, but I'll hold off.
