Deus Ex: Remastered Announced

Honestly, I'm not as harsh on it as some people. That said, it's Aspyr so it probably won't be great. Their Battlefront remasters are notoriously bad, their KOTOR 2 remaster had the promised cut content release canceled post-launch once they already had people's money, and their Neverwinter Nights 2 remaster has all of the game's original issues plus more! Their Stubbs the Zombie remaster was okay, though, but it did lack the entire soundtrack which added to the original game's charm.

I would be curious to see if a Nintendo Switch port is in the works, and if Aspyr plan to release it physically, otherwise I don't think the PS4/PS5 needs it, since the PS2 Classics release is so good just on it's own as an option. On PC, Deus Ex Revision arguably looks better than what is visible in this "remaster" as well.

I feel like once you hit 25 years out from a thing, it's ok. Though this hopefully would have the original graphics button like a bunch of other remasters of this sort.

I'd understand a graphical update- let's face it, the OG has not aged well in quite a few ways- but there doesn't seem to be much of a difference here? The textures are a bit nicer, but everything still looks mushy and the lighting/shadows look too harsh. I guess it's an excuse to port it to new consoles? Which is something someone would want for some reason?

I guess it's a way for PS5 owners to play the game, but the original often goes on sale for $0.97 on PC. You'd be a fool to pay $20-30 for a remaster when you can get the original for that price and it has plenty of options for updates if you so choose from a Direct X10 renderer to the full GMDX fan remaster

Honestly it's a pointless piece of digital shit. There is no logic in making the game look the "same" but changing the visual style to "more detailed one". The fuck is this BS? They didn't even bother with pulling off a modern Unreal Engine remake SMH.

I mean not that Deus Ex 1's graphics are bad for me, like I give a shit about it, in fact its visual style is what I can't do without so wouldn't care to install some graphics mods. Back then I played Atari 2600 and NES for a long time so Deus Ex 1 still looks so good for me. But what I mean is since the original game is still playable and there are tons of fan patches to ensure it, this BS "remaster" doesn't offer anything significant + it looks like ass. They just ruined the graphics as if a style change is what people like in remasters. If graphics really improved to look like making the game turn into "it released in 2025" graphics quality that didn't ruined original design of anything then I would be "ok, I don't care about this shit but at least now I can recommend this game to new generation kids who can't play a game that doesn't look like released after PS4-era" and that's all about it.

The thing with both GMDX and Black Mesa is that they didn't just remake the existing game, they actually rethought elements of it, reimagined levels - it was an actual design process.

As someone else mentioned though, really we need a good Deus Ex sequel... Or maybe prequel. A game playing as Anna or Gunther, with some of the earlier mechanical augmentations could be cool.

As someone else mentioned though, really we need a good Deus Ex sequel... Or maybe prequel. A game playing as Anna or Gunther, with some of the earlier mechanical augmentations could be cool.

Not after they finish Adam's story. Dude has no closure since the half baked Mankind Divided, which came out almost 10 years ago and had only one hub and only 1 boss fight (wtf?). I wish they would just give him a proper third game to wrap up his Clone arc and maybe one or two DLCs, then move on with a new main character or a remake of the original games. Adam is cool af and is one of the best characters in the franchise, would be a shame if they just fridged him and left his story with no ending.

The only remake I'll ask for the series is You-Know-That-Rubbish-2nd-Game lol, but what is needed a new game that connects Adam's deal with 1st game, so it naturally asks for a video game that is waaaaay big deal that Duke Nukem Forever + Half Life 3 + Metal Gear Solid V + GTA 6 combined in terms of the expectation here because it gotta be a game that is way better than Deus Ex 1 considering the year is 2025 now so you should be able to develop a better game than Deus Ex 1 and you have no excuse considering you even have Unreal and AI at your disposal + tons of people in this industry properly educated + almost Quantum PC power hardware that can handle your game. Perhaps they had to cut lots of stuff in Deus Ex 1 due to RAM limitation but they have no excuse to release a rubbish game now. In my mind 3rd game was ok but not decent enough and 4th was rubbish way more than 2nd game so they gotta up the game and deliver a killing blow to the series to shake the industry with 20.0 cosmic earthquake lolol!!!! But it make me say that if they cannot deliver a decent game they better don't even release that shit. I don't wanna be dissappointed as much as I had with MGSV. Let it become a Half Life 3 thing that people just dream on and dies with that dream lolol.

They should have fully committed to the bit and made the graphics PS5-quality but still keep all the awkward facial animations. I would actually be interested in that.

I did not like how the game play or looked or feelt giving it HD texture will not make me wanna play it. They should have remade it in my opinion. But I guess cheap and lazy way out is the best.
