Dead Space 1 or 2?

Dead Space 1
It has the atmosphere and intense fight for your life moments
I personally can't decide between 1 and 2, I love both equally and I love that they portray the effects the marker left on Isaac in 2. Speaking of, have you played the mobile game? The portrayal of the marker and it's influence in that game is something I wish was used more in the mainline games.

Dead Space has such potential, i loved the 1,2 and Extraction. soooo good

Dead space 1. Isaac doesnt speak, thats just the best. On a related topic, remake is good but atmosphere is less scary. Also so much lag sometimes playing on PS3, makes playing it on PS5 so easy.

The first game was definitely buggy on occasion on PC for me, but the remake had some glitches too especially rangdoll ones. Had a Necromorph glitch the hell out on a door and start jumping around everywhere until it eventually disappeared underground.

It's been a long time but 1
2 was when they started leaning more into the shooter genre. It wasn't horrible by any means, but by the time I played 3 the franchise was more like Doom than a survival horror game.

I feel like that was done in 2 due to the fact the Necromorphs weren't a surprise anymore. Hell, even by the end of 1 you kind of get used to it. It's only natural that Isaac has more experience now and is facing a larger quantity of enemies and new enemy types. I honestly love DS2 for the same reasons I love RE4, it's fun it's over the top and it's almost like a natural progression for the series. Maybe some people will get mad at me for calling RE4 over the top but whether you like it or not it kind of is. Bigger and more enemies, dropped the "Metroidvania" style gameplay to some extent (which we already saw being dropped in RE3) and leaned heavily into the action aspects of the franchise. I wish DS2 got remade, they could've fixed up the atmosphere a little bit and it would've potentially been a 10/10 game for me.

Yea, I can understand that and I appreciated Issac's growth bring reflected. But Necromorphs can literally be anything organic. You may have to shoehorn some scares in, but it can be done.

No, Dead Space was a passion project that got more popular than they expected. So when the cash started flowing and the suits got ahold of it, they insisted on chasing the popularity of Battlefield and CoD. By the third entry, there was nary an ounce of the original fire that spurred the development of Dead Space.

I hate that this is the truth and makes way more sense. Fuck EA.

I felt like Dead Space 1 was the better game overall as it was spooky and full of scary moments. Dead Space 2 felt more action oriented and any deaths were just due to being swarmed by enemies rather than any kind of surprise attack.

I played all 3 in a row during the pandemic so it all feels like a single good game that got very bad in the end

I've only played 1. It was great but felt just a tad sluggish in the way it handled, and I didn't care for the zero-gravity sections. Otherwise it felt very fresh for its era. I've yet to play 2 but maybe I'll check it out the next time it goes on sale for 5 bux.
