Recently completed Croc on PS1 and got curious about how people feel about the difficulty overall.

Can't save on 100%

Depends.
If you mean "difficult because it was designed thoughtfully to be a challenge", then not at all.

Now, if you mean "difficult because it's stiff, janky poo-poo that controls like Crocodile butt" then yes, it's a challenge :loldog .

I haven't played the sequels, but the first Croc feels fairly boilerplate as far as difficulty goes. The jumps aren't infuriatingly impossible, and as long as your paying attention, you can find everything your supposed to. That's really all you can ask of a collectathon platformer like this.

Always wanted to play it (treated it as the PS1's "Banjo-Kazooie"), but could never get my hands on it ^^U!

Pretty cool game! When I was a kid I collected all the jigsaw pieces, got to the last secret boss and just couldn't figure out how to beat him. I've been meaning to revisit it because of that.
The game gets reasonably difficult, with a nice difficulty spike around the middle of the desert area and onwards. The music is a big highlight for me as well.

Also, can you hear it? It's the sound of all the whiners who just cannot learn how to use tank controls, coming at you to tell you it's the game's fault that they suck at video games...
For them I have a hint, Croc (this particular game we're discussing) can switch to non-tank controls if you use an analog controller. So now they have no more excuses. ::cirnoshrug

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I used the analog controls, but I love both.

Never played the PS1 version of this but had the Gameboy Color cartridge as a kid. I'll have to give it a try and compare difficulty. I know that GBC one seemed quite challenging as a child. If it has weird perspective controls like some PS1 games did (Tail Concerto) then I imagine I will struggle greatly. Either way very cool platformer and glad others have played it and or remember it fondly.

I've only played a bit of it for the first time recently. It's got some charm, and the controls are something that you should be able to adjust to fairly quickly.

The hurdle I'm coming up against is the collect-a-thon leaning that it has in terms of the Gobbos. It's not DK64 levels, but in my age I'm opting out of things that just want to be a time sink.
