You know, that one song that is strange as fuck but you love anyway!
I'm a little biased here but to me anything that kota hoshino does like:
-Buying goods at palmira
-Stab the heavens
-Forgotten valley

But aside from kota:
-Giant Breadbug
-Whatever this track from deSpiria is
-Tar02(from a game called soup)
-Beginning the hunt(from MH DOS)
-Horizontal Rain(from DIsillusion)

Noriyuki Asakura's track for Tenchu: Stealth Assassins level Execute The Corrupt Minister. It didn't had to go that hard at 2:16 with that electric guitar. Also it begins so chill with the soft picking of strings, flute, the synth... This game's music went so damn well with it's gameplay and atmosphere. Of course it had to be FromSoftware. I was so happy when they picked him as co-composer for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Secret of Mana's Oracle theme:

In looking it up, I found out that the remake has a different song, which sounds as incredible as the original:

Both versions seem to employ samples from what I've read is Balinese music, like this:

I like the sound of the marimba-like instrument you can see in the background. It's called gamelan, it seems. I remember I used to enjoy a compilation labeled simply as "gamelan music", or something like that, but can't find it again. It has a drastically distinct scale, from I can hear, and when I goes slower, generates perplexing, hard to reproduce melodies.

As a side-note:
Now that I managed to bring up folk music... If you like Evergrace's OST, you may be eligible to win a one-way ticket to getting into south american folk music. Or really, any sub-equatorian country's music, East Asian, perhaps. My area of expertise is SA, though. A good umbrella term to begin is "andean music", but my entryway was trhough Dungeon Synth -> CUSCO -> whatever I found next that sounded similar. Maybe I'll append an example later.

"Buying Goods At Palmira" SAME
That song is really cool and experimental and unfairly shat on for it

Other than that, my hot take is that the old versions of Starfield Disarray and Prismatic Descent are far better for their respective stages and robot masters.

I mucked up the text thing you did, but I tried

This track from Tetris TGM2:

This other track from Pizza Tower:

And this song from Pump it Up Exceed:

They're pretty crazy in their own ways, but I still love them.

Phantom Dust was probably the first time my concepts of what music could even sound like was challenged. I wonder if the composers know that this is what would lead me to becoming a huge fan of stuff like Boris lol

Wily Fortress 2 this, Vapmpire Killer that, why nobody brings this peak of chiptune melodies?
