PC-98 has some interesting game concepts and Libros De Chailam Balam, seems kinda epic.

It is a right stuff developed RPG from 1992, that explores the Mayan gods being Cthuhlhu gods?

Watching the basement brothers video here,

It is a wonder why the concept was not reused / remade, it seems pretty awesome to me. And i love the artwork!

What do you guys know the game? What do you think of the idea?

Am i right in thinking the PC-98 is a treasure trove of undiscovered gems?

I don't know about the gameplay of PC-98 games (most of them seem kind of janky) but there's a lot to admire with what they were able to accomplish visually with such limited hardware. I think modern developers could mine these games for visual and thematic inspiration for newer titles.

Also Basement Brothers/PC-98 Paradise is one of my favorite youtube channels.

Agreed, so many hidden gems that could be a jump off point for newer titles. Allot of this i am learning only now, i was never a PC-98 person, as it was a Japanese only format. Makes me feel young again, when i used to look at titles i wish where in the west, not had this feeling of excitement i used to have since the 2010s, as everyone more or less get every games cross boarders, but seeing this stuff, these original titles. I cannot help by be awestruck!

I'm really digging the art style of the opening cutscenes. And in 1992? Had I been able to play this, the graphics would have blown my little kid mind.

I'm also weirdly pleased to see giant floppy disks again. It's been a long while.

My word, the insanity in easy to understand, bite size chunks!

100%, the artistic integrity of some of these PC-98 blows me away, and another big draw to keep digging to see all that i have missed. I was a big SEGA supporter back in the day, but like you, my mind would have been blown, and had i known this existed, it would have made me rethink.

And floppy disks are still some of my favorite formats! 5/12 inch, small 1.44mb, oh man, these bring me back to collage days ^^;;.

Oh and the sounds! I did a post about PC noises a while back, and there is something so satisfying about listening to them make noises as they run!

Sorry if i shared to much >_>, just get so excited when talking about old tech, and with this seemingly new unexplored library, i cannot help but feel more hyped.

No need to apologize! I love hearing about old tech ::peacemario

A lot of this stuff is older than I am, so I only caught the tail end of it before Microsoft started dominating everything.
