From amazing art that captures the game perfectly and sparks the imagination and sticks with you as you play it to all the bad american ones, post it all here

I'll commence with a really uninspired one::rolleyes

My favorite NES game. Don't ask me why his armor is pink.

These 3 are specific to the European market and have always fascinated me.

Another box art, specific to the European market but very Japanese, which has always fascinated me.View attachment 457

Because hot pink was Macho in the 80s ::cool

Huh, you know you're right! Whoever made it must've used gundam as a reference or something

It looks like a cool OVA

Science fiction from the '80s and '90s, especially with mechs, has always been my thing.
This shmup isn't great, but it's a nice fighting jet.

It's one of the PC Engine's best shmups, and the cover art is by Yuji Kaida, who produced tons of magnificent illustrations for Gundam and Godzilla, among others.

One of the rare examples, in my opinion, of a Western cover art that's better done and more motivating than the Japanese original, which looks a bit cheap.

hey guys

PC-Engine box arts are insane (to a level that i think it exceeds the actual vibes of these games)

but one that always grabs me is the one for Heart of Darkness! that demon shadow coming from them, the hole in the wall making it's mouth, the boy looking to the other side without noticing it like the dog, and the hand of an actual monster appearing in an other direction... the chracter design of the boy too... it's great and have the right feeling of playing it

I thought the box art for Megami Ibunroku Persona was pretty good

One of the most iconic illustrations, perfectly capturing the spirit of the game and the 80's, used for most of the box art in the console versions.

Redone, albeit less well, for the Atari ST version...

Another iconic cover art: Juuouki/Altered Beast, Japanese Megadrive version.

And Famicom version...lol

Assault Suits Valken Super Famicom

And Cybernator, the SNES version. Not bad at all.

At least it didn't censor the ass

Speaking of beat em ups

I love the shade of purple, not something you associate with hot headed high school fighting; looks like a silly comic book

Woah, I didn't see the jap prince of persia super famicom version, GORGEOUS!!

The sfc has so many good ones, what the one at the top right?
It's Skyblazer, which i believe the ocidental cover is.... like this:

SNES_Skyblazer_cover_art.jpg

It's also cool but, but feels a lot more like a super hero comic book game than everything skyblazer is about.

Anyway, here are some pretty nes box arts (Dark Myth, Sweeth Home, Joy Mech Fight and Princess Tomato):

I have to agree, the jap one looks pretty generic

I have a couple more instances of this rare phenomenom
It's like there was a mixup at the factory and they put the american cover art in the NTSCJ bin and the japanese one in the PAL bin

Much more intriguing than another "big face" cover
