The Dreamcast has a ton of great hardware variants. It’s like they saw what Nintendo was doing in the U.S. and Europe with all their crazy system variants and just went insane. The number of distinct Dreamcast systems, controllers, and accessories is totally wild considering the lifespan of the system lasting 3 years max. Plus, the Dreamcast’s form factor has always been one of its best attributes. It’s like the PC Engine of disc consoles: just a tiny box that you can’t believe is a whole game console, especially not one so powerful.

This was a thread I discussed the other day with Bjork, and we agreed it would make a good thread. So, have at it! Post cool Dreamcast systems, accessories, and controllers! As long as it’s Dreamcast, it’s more than welcome!

Divers 2000 Dreamcast Console

I’m taking the opportunity before anybody else to talk about the Divers console. A Dreamcast with a monitor built in, that’s built to resemble Sonic (blue, curve on the back for the quills, and the green antenna to represent the eyes), it’s no doubt that it’s a whole beast of a system. The disc drive is up at the top, and there’s a series of lights on the side that pulsate in time to the audio.
Here’s an Adam Koralik video showing it off in full detail:

The video might fool you into thinking this is an achievable find, but in reality it’s the ultimate Dreamcast white whale. It’s not one of a kind, but it’s the most expensive version of the console ever made. Adam only has it because he’s a total collector freak who’s been involved in the Dreamcast scene since its inception, with a complete Dreamcast collection for all territories and a complete collection of physically released homebrew.

Trust me. There are other Dreamcasts that are more findable, affordable, and cool. But I wanted to get this one out of the way because it’s often the one people gush about the most. I have to agree: it’s pretty cool, but I think you’d get a similar effect to this system as you would if you hooked up a normal Dreamcast to a blue iMac from the time period or something.

I'm not going to claim it completely suits the Dreamcast, but I won't deny that if I had the cash I'd absolutely buy one of the Biohazard: Code Veronica variants just for the nice deep red that'd set it apart.

Not a whole console, but this thing always struck me as wild:

I own one! Legitimately love the fishing games on DC, so it was worth it. It’s a crazy cool motion control peripheral. You can use it even in some games like Virtua Tennis and SoulCalibur to swing a racket/sword!

Doesn’t work with all games, but it’s a pretty cool accessory. I like it a lot!

I'll always make time to admire Dreamcasts!

I actually saw this in action for the very first time not even that long ago, damn makes me wanna get one, looks wild indeed!

I’m fairly certain the DC version of REZ came with it? I’ll have to look it up.

Yup! Plugs into the controller like most accessories! Still unsure if this is a fan-made version of the device though, since the only boxed ones I can find are USB, which would only work with a PS2.

"I can't wait to Rez with you baby." Can even say it loud in the public but not many people would know!!! Smartz. lolol
no for real. The first player (the guy) would play with the controller and the GF would get the vibrator. Sega actually promoted this game for couples. lol

Me know humanity so much I knew they would do something like this, not to mention attraction for sex toys but relatively bothersome to get them so people being creative on what they use lolol.

Here’s all the main controller colors!
My favorites are the clear blue (which I own) and clear green. Colors like Pink are restricted to special edition systems.

This system variant was made as a contest prize for the 10th anniversary of Sonic. I honestly think the controller looks the best of these!

I’ve also always thought the RX-78 console was based off Sonic, but I guess that’s unconfirmed.

Those Sonic ones are expensive one sold in the U.K a few years back for nearly 4K

Yup. Don’t doubt that. But you don’t need to spend that much if you just want your Dreamcast to be Sonic themed. I always refer back to how stylish SomeCallMeJohnny’s console looks, and that’s just stickers.

(A more modern look at his console from his PS2 video.)
