Which platforms on the psi were designed solely for analog? Was the first crash designed for dead controls and the second and third for analog because the dues were out by then or how did it work? anyone remember? Im trying to see which would translate best for emulation or even keyboard controls on a Mac. However, I also want to know the pure analog ones since I do own a Saitek controller.

It would be easy to see what year sticks came out, what games made it mandatory, what games accepted it.
Ape Escape was the first to require sticks, cant play without it. Most games going forward designed for it to be there however not everyone used the right stick, half the time the left stick was turned on for pad sub, which you could just turn off by hitting analogue on games that didnt require it.

Any controller you use, will do the same thing a DS did. And I figure most emulators can accommodate that. Shit, I play Duckstation with a Hyperkin Duke controller. Ape Escape on a Duke is a hell of a ride

Now, once you get to the Dual Shock 2, that all changes.

what I meant which ones were designed for it like Mario 64 on the n64 which psi versions of that.

Ape Escape. The only one that required it.
Others knew it would be a way to control and might have made small tweaks to make that experience more enjoyable but for the most part? Pretty much all devs used the stick as a d-pad substitution more or less.

PS2 changed that obviously but for PS1 that was it.
A simple google search woulda told you all that.

so you think playing the crash games on an emulator using the keyboard works well?

like how do you do diagonals without having analog input or just iu mean keypads? without being able to go fast forward or slow or turn t diagonals?

anyone have experience being or doing well in the crash games just using your keyboard wsad keys for movement?

My Brother in Christ, Ive seen dudes beat Elden Ring with the Donkey Kong Bongos controller for the gamecube, Ive seen chicks beat Bloodborne with a DDR dance pad. Ive seen a madlad beat Dark Souls with a fuckin Wiimote mate.

If dudes could learn to play 3rd Strike on a Dreamcast pad, folks can learn to play anything on anything.

However I dont play anything designed for a pad with just button controllers. There are dudes that use a hitbox in smash which is playing your fighting game designed for bad with ONLY button presses, sorta similar but with a keyboard all the keys are spaced real close.

The only game that wouldnt work is Ape Escape since it needs both sticks. Everything else will work but your comfort and enjoyment will very. FFVIII would be far easier to play with keyboard as opposed to Crash 3, but both could work given enough practice with the controls.

dam bro use been around.
