Controllers in your piles. Your favorite controllers. A pile of controllers. Your special controller. Your unremarkable controller. Your spooky controller?

Post all of that and more.

Few of my favorite retro pads, that in one way or another work with my RetroArch setup on both PC and Switch.
The MD 6 button pad has 8bitdo's bluetooth internals, the SNES Mini pad I have can be used with 8bitdo adapter wirelessly/wired. The arcade sticks actually need a modded switch or hardware convertion except for the blue one that has Brook PCB making it work with everything but PS5 and modern xbox systems have last I checked blocked it too. Ironically I do not even play, nor am I THAT good with fighting games to have them all but I would lie if I said I didn't enjoy having them. Sanwa otherwise except Seimitsu LS32 (older one) in the red catz.

I have way more of controllers but posted most of retro gaming adjescent ones. The Xbox one gamepad might be silly but it is likely one of the best ways to play Dreamcast games. Would need way more photos for the rest of them but I also have aside two Playstation Move controllers one of the even more rare navi "Sony Nunchuk", the official GunCon3 for PS3 and it's LED indicators (and the only games that support it officially on disc) - DJhero controllers and more. The official Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 PC gamepad.

What are your controllers you like for one or another reason?

I used to have the X3 controller, but now I didn't use it since it's pretty broken

And then there's the BSP D3 Controller, one that I'm currently using for both phones and laptops. I'm grateful to have this one, especially with a cheap price

I have one of these
(Picture cause I don't have a good camera)

I don't actually use it that much. I fell into the "You gotta play Fighting Games on stick!" meme years ago and tried to learn stick but never got as good as on pad. I mostly use it for MAME for a slightly more arcade like experience now.

My favorite NES controller with DMG-01 buttons and D-pad. I did a deathless Castlevania run on Halloween night with this guy.

I bought a PXN-P6 controller last month so I can use it for emulator and such.

Honestly, it's pretty high quality and works on all emulators I've tested it on.

That is actually sick. I knew that GameCube and first GBA dpads can be swapped around though for no reason since the plastic part is just the same. My DS lite actually has "American SNES" Style buttons as does my Wii U gamepad. For Wii U, My friend has the counterpart.

A controller is an essential tool for any gamer.
Whether it's a specially customized one, a well-worn controller full of memories, or a rare collector's item—
show off your prized controller!

Here are my two controllers for fighting games:
I mainly use my leverless controller for Street Fighter 6 and rhythm games.
The joystick one, which features Chun-Li, is for Tekken and older fighting games.
I actually have two more joysticks, but they're currently lent out to friends, so I couldn't take pictures.

What kind of controller do you use?

I primarily use my steam deck, a dualshock 5, or a switch pro controller.

Xbox One controller, never cared about custom ones and a controller for fighting games.

I don't have any photos on hand, but I bought a metal frame two player Pandora's Box Arcade control bar. I ripped out all of the junk hardware inside and replaced it all with sanwa sticks and buttons, controlled by a zero delay board. It's pretty great for home arcades.

I've also built homemade Pop'n and SDVX controllers out of MDF. They are just plain wood, I didn't do any painting. They work great, however.

The Logitech Precision was my first controller for PC use when I got into emulation. It still works too. I like using it for games that don't need analog controls.

Later I got a Xbox 360 controller because I needed the analog controls but the bumpers and analogs eventually wore out. Replaced it with a PowerA Xbox Series X controller.

I had this. The DPad was awful. If you want a premium non analogue controller, pick up an M30. I love those things.

I haven't used a controller in over 10 years, but even then, I still knew how to use one!

I thought the D-pad was good, it's very clicky and I never had problems with it. But I did hear not-so-great things about 8bitdo buttons sticking so I never bothered with one. I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

Yeah I've heard some controllers having issues. I've never run into that issue. I had some issues with the SN30 Pros back in the day having bricked firmware but they replaced them for me. All of my M30s have been solid.

Oh, I love these things.
I started out on an xbox 360 razor atrox, which I swapped the gate to a round one (gief main) then later swapped out the brains to a brook ps4 board which I could upgrade for ps5 if I ever got one. Did custom artwork for the top of it originally by printing out a bunch of manga panels, and cutting them apart and layering them up, and then years later recreating it digitally and getting a print made. Then after that I made a leverless controller completely from scratch, which I call the "garbobox" as earlier versions of it were made of like old wood bits and plastic sheets I had laying around. The final version uses that same model of brook board, and 1/8th inch laser cut steel plate, and sleeved cables. Also grabbed a snackbox micro which is what I'll usually find myself playing on these days as it doesn't take up a lot of space on my desk. One of these days I'd like to go back into the atrox, and figure something out with it's internals, as back when I was active in my local fgc I used to be able to put an entire subway sandwich inside of it. Used to get a laugh out of between rounds opening my controller and taking a bite out of a meatball sub.

Do any of you have any switchless fight sticks, Hitbox or otherwise? I was considering trying one out.

That’s absolutely amazing!
I really admire custom-made controllers!
But unfortunately, I don’t have the skills for that, so I’ll just stick with a commercially available one.

Razer controllers are truly fantastic. I really wish they would re-release the PANTHERA.

I just swapped the buttons and slapped sticker on it.

This one is the plug-and-forget fightstick for mame.

And this one is juri-rigged (heh) from spare scraps, the inside is easily hotswappable.

@DunkeyKong This is one you put your phone into? How is it? I had one before by Altek Lansing, but I couldn't map any of the buttons, and the right stick had way too much input lag and huge deadzones to be of any real use.

@SuperOkay I'm not really familiar with what switchless is.

It’s very well-suited for fighting games with simplified input commands, like Street Fighter. However, since Tekken has complex commands and KOF requires precise jump control, I think it depends on the game.

Also, half-circle commands can be tricky, so it can vary depending on the character.

I mainly use Chun-Li in Street Fighter 6, so I really feel the benefits of using a leverless controller.
