A year ago today, this game shut down. It launched just two weeks earlier, to incredibly low sales because literally nobody wanted yet another live-service shooter in an age loaded to the gills with them. In the end, all copies of this unmitigated disasterpiece were refunded, and though there were thoughts of getting the game back up, the studio that developed it was nuked nearly two months later. As is the modern-day tradition.

In short, Concord was one of the games of all time. I just wanted to post something about it, since I saw one of my online friends bring it up.

When did you first hear of this trainwreck? Was it the shutdown announcement on the 3rd, or maybe earlier than that? Do you know anyone that even tried this game?

I can't say much about the game, other than most people hated it, like a lot. The game felt Old, that was also an insult to older games. It felt as though the game was like a fart from a distance. Sure you smelled it, but you never knew where it came from.

Concord was definitely a game that existed for the PS5. I only heard of it cause of how much of a failure it was and I'm sure there was a (nonexistent) fanbase that hoped for a FF XIV: A New Realm Reborn kind of moment. But it truly was the Sony game of a lifetime.

I'm sure the game will most likely be known for two things in the future, one as a metric system to describe a game's lifespan and the other being the first game and only game to die out before an average fruit fly would pass away (average being 40 to 50 days if optimal living conditions).

PS5 has no games they say, then Sony gave us one and they still took it from us.

It's funny how all of the major games the PS5 has at this point are:

-remakes of already existing games
-AstroBot which while immaculately designed is still sorta just a glorified IP graveyard
-A Spider-Man game that could've been generational but was rushed out the door for the game awards in which it didn't win a single thing
-An ok Ratchet and Clank sequel carried by it's portal mechanics
-And this which didn't even last a week

Not to mention most of these minus Astrobot are already available on PC as well

Not really - you can snag new and sealed copies on eBay for around $15 or less

I do remember when the shutdown happened, and even saw copies of the game for sale at WalMart later in the day. I was tempted to pick one up, just because. But I'm glad I fought off that impulse.

I only learned about this from the Secret Level episode....which itself will have a longer shelf life in history than the game itself ever did :'c

I remember seeing the trailer on one of those gaming stage shows, and thinking, "who is this for? This looks like bootleg Guardians of the Galaxy" and as it turns out, it wasn't for anyone. This is one of those projects that I think someone higher up got a crazy bonus if it shipped, so it didn't matter if it was going to immediately die off.
