Another Mecha related translation, the autor is very transparent saying that it's MTL but with the intention that in the future it can be changed with human translation, I gonna give it a try before saying if it is good enough to play.

Edit: After playing like 40 minutes I can say, the text is not a masterpiece but it's good enough to play, honestly I was expecting a visual novel but this is a solid turn based RPG, my bad for not being informed I suppose, but having this patch to at least understand the story is good, I think.

Nice, I hope is decent at least.
This game is awesome and deserving of a patch already.

When I first learned of the weakness of flesh, it disgusted me.

But even then I did not accept the Rites of the Machine.

As what I once called a temple started to fail, even then I refused to see the Light of the Machine Spirit.

But then the Machine gave me a translation of that Code Geass RPG that I lusted over for years.

And then I accepted the machine into my newly metal heart. For the Machine Spirit is Eternal.

Also the author probably put in some work and I'm thankful there are people still out there like that. The Internet survives or dies based on the contributions of individuals such as these. Thanks, name of the author of the patch that I already forgot.

Hi friends!

Hopefully this doesn't count as a necro of the thread, though me doing so might be apt given the topic of discussion lol.

I just got linked this thread by a friend, and I decided to register here to say that I really appreciate the comments on the MTL. I really hope that eventually, this game can become something that the English-speaking community can see for the gem I have always seen it as being. So thank you all so far for being so kind.

I remember when the original TL attempt was ongoing back in the day from Blueflame90 & co. I feel like every year I'd check in, and there would be no word on anything happening and it would break my heart every time. I tried playing it a few times, and it was feasibly playable given the GUI, but with 0 understanding, it's hard to be a fan of anything except the aesthetics.

I did wonder if it would be a matter of controversy to do the translation via MTL, given the state of the ol' P-word these days. I suppose my guiding star was, I remember there was a point where Lost Colors got some tech where you could run the text through MTL via some emu-hookup or something of the sort, and how fun it was stumbling through janky text with my friend over Skype as we got
Absolutely DEAD ENDed by Rolo

Funnily enough, I haven't even had the time to actually play the translation. I am lucky that a few people have provided save points that I can compare some changes against. It is quite challenging to stay on top of. I've tried even polishing up the script manually but - I don't actually speak (or write, or read) Japanese myself.

It is worth saying, I have tried to reach out to various people on discords related to code geass about translation efforts. I would much rather this eventually be something I pass off to actual experts to do a much better translation job in.

There is a complication in that in trying to be conservative and not break anything, I decided to no go over each original line's byte size, to avoid over-writing data. My inspection of the old original patch, which relocated some english text to the end of the script files and, and that *may* have caused (allegedly - from what I have heard) some instability and crash issues. But of course, it also let them write actually decent English. In this case, as good as one might think MTL is or could be, it's basically translating tiny amounts of japanese text with very restrictive conditions. Even that isn't great because the automated nature caused accidental translation of things that couldn't be translated, and figuring out what exactly is or isn't game text is a matter of trial and error basically.

I would like to work on something that maybe relocates the text to the end of the script, like the original patch had done. I am not sure what kind of instability or issues that would cause in a broader context because I have very limited understanding of the game code. Heck, the voice command system confounds me to this day.

In fact, I think this whole process is kind of messed up, and I genuinely apologise that this is the way people had to experience this game in English, and I also apologise that I am the one who is semi-blindly curating the project. It deserves far better than anything I could cook up. I just simply couldn't resist my own hubris and temptation to finally have this accessible to people.

Thanks a lot.
