Everyone's saying to start with 5, but that's a main course, you need to start with some kind of appetizer. I can recommend the [B]Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven [/B]remake as an entry point into the SaGa series, it actually explains its mechanics very well while also dropping you into its narrative tricks.
