Whether you decide to go with the old version or The 7th Saga really doesn’t matter because there’s a lot of cool and under appreciated things about it. First off there’s the 3rd person view for battles which is incredibly rare for this era. Every attack has its own animation, every enemy has a health bar (which isn’t as common as you’d think), and every character (there’s 7 different ones in total) has their own unique movesets and builds. Most people tend to go with Esuna since she can spam magic attacks out the wazoo and obliterate things. Story’s nothing to really write home about though. 7 different heroes each get a rune and they have to get them all to get a wish granted. What IS unique is what the characters in this game can do. You can have a maximum of one other party member, but each character isn’t accessible at any time. Most insane thing though is that many of these characters will often FIGHT YOU TO THE DEATH for these runes. Hell, even if you pick someone up as a party member, you still might not be safe as most of the characters have a chance to full on betray you. It’s also worth mentioning that if you die, it doesn’t boot you to the menu, just to the last town and saves your exp, levels, and stuff. I like how I said I was gonna recommend things from different consoles just to write up an essay on a single SNES game oof. Elnard/7th Saga also has an unlocalized sequel called Mystic Ark, and Mystic Ark also has a second game exclusive to PS1 but that game’s…weird. [/QUOTE]
