so, i got a psp off ebay. 50 dollars with a charging cable and 64 GB sd card + adapter... yeah it was the cheapest psp i've ever bought... and it was a little bit too good to be true.

it's clearly had a rough life, and the D-pad -left rocker is broken off from the other three. It's... kind of annoying when playing. I was thinking that maybe i could replace it... but i wonder where would be a good place to source a replacement? (just the plastic, really...) or maybe i should try super glue, first?

Since is just the plastic part, there is replacement parts both to the MOBO part of the buttons and plastic ones on Aliexpress or you could just pick up a junk PSP for cheap and keep it for replacement parts (If so, try looking for a bricked PSP, everything would be working perfectly exept the system itself so screen, buttons, audio, shell everything can serve as a backup)

yeah, i guess that's what i should do... maybe i should try to find a replacement first.

so, bricked psps are really a thing? they are so easy to hack, you gotta wonder how anybody could get it wrong...

i usually buy handheld systems that come with a case, because you know... they've been in a case... but dang... 50 dollars + buy it now... derp. ahah

...

i gotta wonder what even happened to this one. psps are usually so tough.. I had one that slipped under the floormat of my car and lived there for a year before i found it... and NOT A SINGLE SCRATCH ON IT!!!

this ebay PSP has a sweet hairline fracture on the other side of the case that's all swirly... looks like a thumbprint or something. Like maybe somebody dropped it off a 3rd story balcony or something.

You can usually find replacement parts for a couple dollars each on ebay. Only downside is the long shipping times. I would definitely go with norunove's suggestion if you have the capital to invest. It will save you time and money in the long term.

That's a pain in the ass. Replace the d-pad for sure, broken mechanisms are no good in controllers and you will find it's a subpar experience.

yeah it's pretty lame... i need to double check, but i'm pretty sure the seller didn't mention the broken d-pad. I prolly wouldn't have bought it, but meh. it WAS 50 dollars with a 64 GB card. i keep telling myself that... like i've never paid less than 100 for a psp, i don't think.

Just buy new parts or just better restored psp from aliexpress, but too late with the tarifs

aren't these tariffs unconstitutional some how? i mean, wasn't the US formed as a response to outrageous tariffs levied by a government that wasn't serving its people? like... I mean, i'm not exactly proposing a "Boston Switch 2 Party" or anything...

seriously tho, how am i supposed to afford a 125% tariff on a PSP D-Pad?
