Chaos Seed: Fuusui Kairouki is a JP-only SNES game that I've always been fascinated by. It had an English translation released in 2014. It's a strange ARPG/RTS/simulation hybrid with very complex mechanics.
It also might be one of the best looking SNES games I've ever seen.
I've tried playing this game so many times only to get overwhelmed by all the rules and mechanics and abandon it a few levels in. I must have played the tutorial a dozen times at this point lol.
There's a lot of resources to manage and it's all very unintuitive. You're supposed to design a cave system from scratch and earn a certain amount of points in order to fight a boss or otherwise finish the level. Between rounds you are given a menu in which you can manage and upgrade the rooms you build. It has a element system based of real life Feng Shui and that's probably the hardest thing for me to understand.
It's sort of similar to that old Windows/DOS game Dungeon Keeper. And sort of similar to Zelda LTTP too.
I really want to master this game on RetroAchievements as it's sort of been my retro gaming arch-nemesis for a long time and it would feel good to conquer it finally.
Anybody else play this game? I can't be the only one right?
