Catch the wave! (Synthwave/Darkwave/Vaporwave)

When it comes to these Internet-age sub-genres, I tend to lean more towards Future Funk than anything else. But that mostly comes from a childhood of spinning my folks' Disco records in the basement 😅

I do enjoy Vaporwave, and like Dan Mason and FM Skyline quite a bit! The latter is probably more of what you're looking for with this thread, so I'll drop a few favorites here:

I also really, really like the Textures mixtape from Rhodes. It's a little more "in your face" than FM Skyline.

I highly recommend supporting all of these artists on Bandcamp, if you have the means to do so! Many of their albums can be had for $1 or so, and there's a variety of tapes and records available if that's your thing, as well 🥳

Synthwave is awesome . I like the 80s vibes and how they deliver through their music the themes without using lyrics.

Only few Songs were great when the lyrics were put into it but Synthwave is more the music in the background that fills up stylish the atmossphere and has some tempos that is loaded with energy for workout or pretty chill and calming to work on something on a comfortable level .

Its like a musical Neon sign . Not too bright and not to dark but it fills the room with color in such an approach that makes it cool and stylish .

Jeremiah Kane lately is my favourite music group .

Mitch Murder is pretty peak. Frantic Aerobics, Power Move, Remember When, Turning Point, and HollyWood Heights are all pretty nifty tracks. And if you wanted anything just video game adjacent, he did an entire album of just Megaman music. I think he might be trying break into Jungle stuff now tho...
Though, the song that got me into Wave was Power Glove's Streets of 2024, which sounds like you're being hunted down in the middle of and arcade.
It also uses a ton of voice samples from Undercover Cops, which is pretty cool.

Really didn't care for Kung Fury all that much, but man was "True Survivor" a great fucking tune!

I like Future Funk as well (same for City Pop). Big fan of Funk in general as well as Disco and R&B. I'll listen to pretty much anything with a good beat
