let's talk about Konami's Vampire Hunter's Games that made legends and stuff like that i don't think there was a thread but correct me if i'm wrong.

my fav castlevania is the rondo of blood remake on PSP. the Dracula X chronicles and my least fav is castlevania 64 cause of 1 part of the game i hated so much... (there's a youtube video of it btw) i have to look for it and see.

Wasn't really interested in a Castlevania game until I played the Aria of Sorrow (I was just looking for a game to play for a long time on my GBA) but my favorite is Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. I almost liked Symphony of the Night but IDK there was something I disliked about the game so didn't play it much, the hype my friend had over the game enough to make me play the game wasn't mutual on my part lol.

Belmont's Revenge is my favorite, the first one I played and finished of course, I'm aware that the game is somewhat boring, the character is slow, receiving certain attacks takes away your power and some enemies are extremely annoying but the music is a complete gem.

I've only played 4, Symphony of the Night, Order of Ecclesia and Rondo of Blood X. Great games, great music compositions. I used to prefer to linear action of the earlier titles but the metroidvania aspect started to grow on me.

I played Dracula X some time ago on a switch lite I had, thought it was neat. I've played that weird castlevania fighting game that was on the wii.

There's someone in this forum that will defend Castlevania 64 with their life, be careful if you see them.

I really like the Metroidvania Castlevanias (say that three times) but I discovered the games with the SNES entries which were a bit of an obsession for me. Their atmosphere and horror theme was really effective and the games have some fun platforming too, I especially loved swinging with the whip in Super Castlevania IV. Nowadays my favorites are the sorrow games, I love the soul system!

I wonder if these are issues for you too, I personally don't like the game because it's sluggish in a few ways. The controls aren't so responsive or smooth, the menus aren't the most intuitive and the level design has many rooms that are really stretched out which isn't so fun when Alucard is already a bit slow. The other Metroidvanias remedy this a fair bit.

I've played a handful of them here and there, but the only one I ever actually beat was the first one on the NES. Though, this thread reminded me to get back to trying to beat Castlevania 3 ::winkfelix

great music compositions

In general what I like about the series is the soundtracks but I don't like most of the games in the series lol.

Rondo of Blood on the PC Engine CD is my favorite. Fantastic animation and sountrack, plus the Death fight is just badass. Im mostly a classic Castlevania fan, but I do like SotN and Portrait of Ruin.

The Dracula X chronicles for psp was such a great value, first time playing Sotn and Rondo of blood, but my first castevania game was the highly underrated circle of the moon, sure its the weakest of the gba 3 but its still an amazing experience

In the context of the time this game was an accomplishment. It was almost like getting Symphony of the Night on a handheld system which made it a really big deal and it remains fun even if the other games on the platform are more polished. It really is worth it.

Symphony of the Night, Castlevania Legends <much love for my girl Sonia Belmont, who Konami did Fucking dirty> and Simon's Quest are my all time favorites, with the DS games being high up there.

Castlevania has always had even in the 8-bit era great music, gothic and metal as all get out.
The stories, what little most of them have, are pretty good.
I know the newer games have more story to take in, but the 8-bit ones had next to nothing aside from "Dracula did some bad shit, go stop him"

Still a great series

Rondo, Symphony and 3 are my favorite ones, and they're all REALLY solid. I've played fewer of them than I'd like to admit though, but I prefer the "classic" style more than the non-linear style in general.
I've never really liked Castlevania 4.

Here's my favorite tune, criminal that it never showed up outside Rondo:

I've always liked Castlevania since I played the first (excluding the MSX one) one on the Famicom Disk System. I never thought videogame music could sound so catchy once I reached level 3 which played Wicked Child.

What I loved best about Castlevania was the music. My favorite Castlevanias were usually the ones that had songs that wouldn't leave my head and lingered there over the years.

My favorites are Castlevania 3 (Japanese version), Super Castlevania 4 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness for their great music and endings.
