thread to share and discover card games that are have campaign/story modes. I think that's kind of a dead genre nowadays so i think asking here in RGT is a good idea to find out about good retro ones, but also feel free to mention modern titles!

here's some examples of games that fit what i'm talking about

Got interested in games like that since i've recently beaten a game called cardaire that released 3 months ago

Have you played the Pokemon TCG game for the Game Boy? There's a ROM hack called TCG Neo which is also really good.
Also, I guess Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel if you want to play the game against real people and Magic The Gathering Arena, although the latter has (in my opinion) a pretty poorly made client, although to be fair I've been spoiled by Master Duel's sleek, great looking and F2P friendly client
Also there's Wagic The Homebrew on the PSP if you don't mind something like that

Can't believe I forgot to mention this in my reply but yes this too absolutely
The NeoGeo Pocket ones are incredibly fun too

I like Yu-Gi-Oh and the Pokemon TCG games, but one that I think was underrated was Duel Masters

Sure the actual story modes of this and the GBA games wasn't great, but the core TCG gameplay I thought was very good. Unfortunately it only lasted a few years in the US as both a Video game series and a TCG, but I think it was extremely underrated and fun to play.

Shadowverse: Champion's Battle on Switch. It's based on the mobile ccg. The story is super cheese but the card game itself it pretty fun. Unfortunately the AI cheats in the higher ranks by top-decking cards and reading your hand. At this point it kind of turns into a puzzle game to find the exact right deck to counter your opponent's.

Also Culdcept. Plays a bit like monopoly with magic and monsters. Both fun and frustrating because of how random it can be.

Oh, I just thought of another one, CARDPOCALYPSE! A love letter to every 90's kid's childhood.

These are RPG where everything is a card and I mean everything.

Played this a bunch as a kid, the 5 body per side limit sucked though since in the real game you could just flood the board with bodies.

To anyone who wants to pick up a physical copy of this: there was a game breaking bug in the US version, so they briefly had a program where you could mail in your cartridge and they'd send you a fixed replacement, along with a pack of King of Fighters cards. The old/broken version has a sticker with the background in full color, while the fixed version has the background elements kind of greyed out, or maybe it was sepia toned. I would imagine any version of the rom is gonna have it fixed, but I can't say for sure.

The Baten Kaitos duo for the GameCube. Two games where cards (called Magnus) are the entire theme of the game.

There are both fixed and unfixed versions online.

For physical cartridges, the label of the fixed ones is more faded, and the internal code is different:

Bugged cartridge: NTR-AVSE-USA

Fixed cartridge: NTR-AVSE-USA-1

Edit: Sorry, you already mentioned all this.
