Can you recommend me a good Text-To-Speech app to introduce someone to the wonderful world of books?

Hey, dear subjects of my brutal regime guys!

I need your help with a task that's both small and a huge: introducing someone who can't read to the wonderful world of books and stories!

NOW... I know what you are thinking: "why not just use an audiobook, then?" and you'd be right... Except that the vast majority of books I think they are gonna like have no audiobook version for me to buy or seven seas my way to. But almost all of them have epub versions, which is where YOU come in.

Simply put, I need a TTS app that does the following:

Runs on Android.

Runs offline.

Sounds natural enough as to not produce a piercing headache on the listener (trust me, been there myself).

Do you know of any that meets this criteria? If so, I'd be eternally thankful.

Thanks!

Do you have a library by you? Use Libby or Hoopla, both have legal audio book checkouts with 1000's of titles. There is an android app, and you can download audio books for offline listening, but they delete/return in 3 weeks, but you can always check them out again. It's not a TTS program, but it does everything you are looking for. All you need is a valid library card to sign up.

I'll look into it.

Your best bet is to find an audio book of what you're looking for on internet archive and youtube. Either fan made or authentic. Most of the chat programs even the more advanced AI stuff becomes monotonous almost immediately. It's not well enough designed for prolonged human hearing.
