Would this version be better than the Maeson v1.6 for a first playthrough?
Personally I would play this later bc there are a lot of features that you won't appreciate unless you're more familiar with what to expect. Maeson is a great place to start imo

Hmm...
I don't know if it's just me but this one isn't tagged as a SNES hack on the site.

The Maeson hack comes with Extra 0 - No Checksum (Original Title Screen)/(Vocal Title Screen & Through Fire and Flames) ips Thanks to Praetarius5018
That's true, I'd forgotten about that.

Very useful. I'll add it and credit Pethronos. Do you know if there is a version of this for just the base retranslation?

It's just my spear to break, but personally i dodge Maeson's hacks, they start fine and dandy but eventually they go nuts with the difficulty

This one is more like a Vanilla Expansion that tunes the games polishing it

From my first impression of this hack, whichever works. Maeson is a full rebalance of the cast with some QoLs added, while this is more of a fine-tuning of the overall game experience. As long as you're not playing the base game, you're good.

Seems this hack is not include fix for Agi Up spell...
Oh, really? I thought ThegreatBen fixed it. I guess I'll mention it in the RHDN forum.

This Romhack gives a breath of fresh air for this game that in itself is fine but with the definitive version it improves the balance of the secondary characters of the party and other things as shown in the description of the Romhack.

Huh, didn't think this got uploaded this fast. I was waiting to play the entire game first to compare this with Maeson. Also, it seems you did something so there's no need for an existing save file to bypass the initial check. That's good.

Does this hack change the encounter rate?
From my limited testing, no. It's still high as ever. And the less encounter patch by Ok Impala! doesn't mess well with this hack, it seems.

How this compared to Maeson edition?
I still haven't fully tested it, but the readme does mention some changes Maeson doesn't have. One big example is the feature to change party (nearly) anywhere outside of a save point with the start button, and it does work. You can only drop Ryu in the overworld, but in dungeons/towns, he must be in the party. Most likely to avoid crashes for story segments. Here's what it looks like using my old save file.

I honestly couldn't tell you. At a glance it doesn't seem as thorough as Maeson in the rebalance department, but ThegreatBen has a good track record.

Does this hack change the encounter rate?
Not as far as I can tell. The readme doesn't mention this.
