Comics Brazilian comics are on another level, look at this example.

Brazil's relationship with international media is fascinating.

It has some of the strictest, deliberately aggressive import taxes on the planet designed to dissuade the adoption of foreign media.
Yet Toei, Toho and Sega gained special privileges to circumvent those taxes in 80's & early 90's meaning Brazil has a deep cultural connection with Japan the west can not comprehend.

We're taking 15+ years ahead of the wests Anime boom Brazil was drowning in Japanese media & merchendise.

Metal Heroes, Super Sentai, Kamen Rider & Ultraman were dubbed long before Power Rangers existed.
Toys, video games, the whole multimedia rollout all in Portugese.
Odd ball shows such as Dennou Keisatsu Cybercop found a second life in Brazil- then there is the domestically produced Tokusatsu series.
CyberBio, Insector Sun, Timerman, Tsebayoth etc.
It's a rabbit hole I adore.

Skip ahead to the modern day, the taxes remain but the Internet is widespread.

Yet the Brazillian government still offers ALOT of financial support to incentivise the creation of Domestic media.
Enter the Brazilian comic book industry in all of glory.

Whilst the two examples above are parodies neither are were in bad faith due to Brazil's longer history and acclimatisation to Japanese media.

CyberBio, Insector Sun, Timerman, Tsebayoth etc.

BomWelcome to Brazil! Did you know that Ubisoft made a trailer for the Assassin's Creed game with a Japanese hero premise?

Yes, it was the only thing connected to Assassins Creed Shadows I appreciated.
It was made with more respect for Japanese media & culture than the game itself ::sailor-embarrassed
American media reported it's release as a "joke" rather than a love letter.
Western social media reception to the short was to label it as a misrepresentation of the game. ::sadkirby

As a lifelong Tokusatsu fan stuck in Europe I am envious of Brazil.
Whilst the interest remains niche in both regions. Brazil respects its enough to fund multiple original series. Where I live no studio produces such works of fiction- they don't consider it worthy of investment.

BomWell, Brazil also has a Japanese culture because the Japanese came to Brazil on a ship, you've probably heard that story.

The Brazil Maru!

The South American hemisphere is so cool, from my perspective as an outsider it is the only region on Earth which liberated itself from Colonial occupation and truly developed its own culture.
Where North America just copied Europe and now Europe copies North America.

O Brazil Maru!

Onde a América do Norte copiou a Europa e agora a Europa copia a América do Norte.
OutroAnother great story I can tell you is that Brazil has always had many exclusive anime programs. There are several things.
