Sooooo....
Not too long ago, I made a status post talking about a game idea I randomly had.
It's basically a Rival Schools-like fighting game but with management sim elements where you build your own fighting school and train students to be the best brawlers in the world.
I've been throwing around ideas for the game with my friends, but I wanted to ask:
What ideas do YOU have for the game? And what type of characters would you add to the game as either a student or a teacher?

I think a pretty good start for a game like this would be having representation of every sport and martial art discipline possible.

That's what I was thinking when making this idea!
I'd have each martial art and sport be like school clubs that anyone can join.

Exactly! Rival Schools itself is a good template, but it would be awesome to have a modern, much expanded take on it. Personally? I'd love to see it in lovingly animated Arc System Works' 2D rather than 3D.

Funny you mention that...
Cause I also had that same idea!
I wanted the Game's graphics to look something like Blazblue and the older Guilty Gear games, like Guilty Gear XX.

I've had a very similar idea, where one day a delinquent wakes up and decides to make his senior year a year for everyone to remember and goes to challenge every single tough guy of every other school.
Ideally this game would follow the old style SMT overworld map format, where you can travel to different places using a cursor and then be transported to the place. It would be 2D with every fight (encounter) being a fighting game.
You would have to unlock new moves using skill points won from leveling up, fighting, training or doing overworld activities (akin to the Yakuza series, for example bowling or darts)
I would love to make this game, I feel it isn't that ambitious but unfortunately me being a Godot programmer mostly has been a major downside. I know C# and could move to Unity, but for whatever reason my PC just does not like Unity at all.
The most ideal situation is this game would be a spiritual successor to Rival Schools: United by Fate and Hard Knock High but with a small Yakuza/Shenmue/The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa twist.
Also sorry I didn't recommend anything, it's just a bit cool to see someone with similar ideas haha I had to share mine
Post automatically merged:

Something I forgot to mention is the game would also IDEALLY have a skill tree following 3 different paths: Light, Heavy, Balanced.
This would dictate 3 different playstyles that you can level through so the game has some replayability, along with random martial artists/tough guys teaching you their own special moves under special conditions that would fit into those skill trees.

Bro, all of your ideas are absolutely fantastic!
If I could, I would hire you as a programmer for my game!

I just don't think its feasible on Godot, I mean it is but due to the fact I slacked off on my programming and went for art instead I don't think I can produce something that would match my vision. I can do the art though if you're ever down for that, hell I might make a character soon just for the fun of it I'll post it to your profile if I ever end up doing that
