There's been a ressurgence of those as of late. There's something oddly comforting about them; maybe it's the nostalgia.
I think Mullet Mad Jack also qualifies as a good pick.
Not a huge deal, but I'm part of that demographic that gets referred to a lot as a "boomer", lol. Yeah, well you'd find us on a retro gaming site, being my first system was an Atari 2600 in 1984, BUT it's my dad who is the BOOMER lol, the whole world's got it wrong. The Baby Boomers, after World War II. Wikipedia: The generation is often defined as people born from 1946 to 1964 during the mid-20th century baby boom that followed the end of World War II. I'm a Gen-X'r, we are the KIDS of the "Boomers" and now we are being called that, it's just a funny world. I personally am reluctant with anything new, even if it's made to look retro. I guess if I play the game and the game mechanics, responses, music, etc are enough like old 8 and 16 bit games then I might give it my seal of approval.they call them "boomer shooters" now, but this one is so simple yet aesthetically very impressive, to me at least, I felt I should share it.
It just does everything right for a quick pick up and play experience IMO
I think you're fine my friend. I zero'd in on the term, where my mind was. Love shooters more today than ever. Just now playing with Cave Arcade emulation, Deathsmiles, Espgaluda II, man, I'm in love all over again. Going back, gettin' all the shooters, NES/Famicom, Megadrive/Genesis, PCEngine/TG16, PSX, Saturn, wow. Boomers, lol, like do they realize that ppl were having a lot of babies after WW2, they probably don't. Lol. Yeah, my parents, both of them born 1951. Oh well man, guess we're Boomers huh? Knowledge is power! Stay up, keep postin', keep playin'!!Exactly that's why I said "they call them boomer shooters" it makes no sense to me either. I'm 41, I'm often called a boomer by many of these Gen Z.....<insert offensive term here> yet i'm not the boomer, my parents, aunts and uncles are and they're better people than most of these modern <insert more offensive terms>. But that's not the direction I was trying to take this topic in, it's just a term that has stuck for these old school shooters as of late, sorry my anger came out.
Bottom line is, people misinterpret and use the wrong terms for stuff and if they get popular enough there's nothing you can do to change it, the term has gotten a new meaning and that's that.
Or you don't have to wait 20 minutes of FMV and dialogue just to start the game up, not everyone's into that, why I love arcade games. There's been a ressurgence of those as of late. There's something oddly comforting about them; maybe it's the nostalgia.
