I would love to see a book section with all kinds of "reading" material related to video games, and respective translations (in case they exist):
  • Books
  • Magazines
  • Guides
  • Walkthroughs
  • Instruction Manuals
  • Related Comic Books / mangas
  • Other things related
There are many interesting things out there, lost to time and waiting to be found, appreciated, preserved (and translated).
E.g.: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metroid/comments/1149uhk/i_uploaded_all_the_scans_of_the_metroid_zebes/

Print is brutal with copyright.
Any scanned material will get us in bigger trouble than games.
Oh true. Indeed, I have not though (forgotten) about how prevalent and intensive is the inquisition in printed media.
Do you think some could be considered "abandoned media" or free, like old magazines, old game instruction manuals, and those things?

Abandoned is relative, more often than not someone owns those copyright, it's a guess work who enforce them or not. Seems silly coming from me but I rather not gamble with it.

Maybe we could have a book discussion section to talk about said printed works and discuss them without sources?
I think most of us could find them if we tried for a couple hours.
I really would love to know about all these printed works I have no idea exist right now.

Sharing opinions and stories about experiences is very interesting, but it's not the same thing as having access to lists and discovering things as you go. When I created the thread I was also thinking about the translations.
Game instruction manuals/booklets (specially the older ones), e.g. NES manuals, can be found easily online. But not translations, like this one: https://ko-fi.com/s/f43a8d650e

I mean, we could list them Moloch, make known what IS available and a general direction to it... like.. Archive just got a backup of XY. We could point to Archive repositories or Ko-Fi, Substacks, Patreons etc.. but Index them here? Sort of like... CDRomance *right now*.

I have not visited BOOKS section yet, so I might be making a fool of myself talking about things that are already implemented, LOL... I am answering posts before lurking deeper.

I suppose that idea could work.

Unless I have missed it (and that's always possible), what I have seen in "Books & Magazines" were multiple, random, threads about this subject, but not a specific repository or anything like that.
