Is this the unlockable character screen? It's been a very long time since I've unlocked them. Forgot about this page, honestly...

Just addending this comment to say that I checked, and all the unlockable character/level/mode lines do seem to be translated. Could you let me know which one specifically this is? I'm planning on re-doing basically the entire patch to try to make it more stable and verifiable and all that.

It isn't. This is straight from Vimm's Lair, and Dolphin and NKit2 both verify that it's a good dump. Unless you're saying all three of those failed to catch that it isn't actually a good dump.
You're right that CRC-32: 9ebecf47 is correct for Bloody Roar - Extreme (Japan).iso but then again on your romhack plaza page says .rvz and when I try to patch the iso with an xdelta path with checksum verification enabled it doesn't work. So I don't know, something is wrong here.

Why is this based on a bad dump exactly? The correct dump for Bloody Roar - Extreme (Japan).rvz should be CRC32: BC51793A and MD5: f56125c59c6386c31b7457808dd1abc4

Thanks for the tip about the CRC32 and the suitable/correct MD5 of the Japanese version of the game.

Since getting into emulation one thing is constantly surprising me, the file size how did they fit so much game in such a small size? Modern games are huge and yet there's more game in old games than new ones hell they more often than not look better too.
They stopped compressing things like textures and audio. Both eat up space like crazy

I'll bypass and play the European version. No reason to play a buggy version.
I'd rather play at 60fps instead of 50fps

Is there a way to contact the devs and see if they'll add it? I know nothing about all these bespoke programs or how redump verification works or any of that. My modded Wii boots everything regardless of any sort of verification, and Dolphin doesn't care.

yeah it just says its a bad dump and doesn't boot. says it needs nkit to fix it

Is there a way to contact the devs of Swiss and see if they'll add it? I know nothing about all these bespoke programs or how redump verification works or any of that. My modded Wii boots everything regardless of any sort of verification, and Dolphin doesn't care. I submitted a feature request to Swiss' GitHub suggesting to allow users to manually flag games as "good".

From what I'm seeing online, this happens to several modded games and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it. Their database doesn't recognize it so it thinks it's bad and it's a stupid system but I guess that means it won't allow it to boot because the user can't flag it as a modded game themselves. I'll keep looking and try using the NKitProcessingApp to see what I can do but I don't have a modded GameCube so I don't think I can test that myself.

i'm sure they'll update it with the next swiss update. thanks!

Did you experience any bugs yourself? What were they? If it's a bad dump issue in Swiss I'm not sure I can do anything about that as you can't manually flag games as "good".

Someone on the site I posted the patches on was also saying something about the resulting .RVZ files not verifying with a no-intro database, and I have no idea what that or a "bad dump" error means or why they'd be important. Does the error prevent it from booting for you? I'd like to fix it I'm just clueless as to what the issue is/what to do about it. Also, the Xbox Cutscenes version still has a slight error where the opening cutscene visuals don't play on boot, the only way to see it is to beat the game and use the Movie Player to view it. I'm trying to figure out a fix but I haven't quite gotten there yet.

I'd like to try the version with the Xbox cutscenes, I wanna test on real hardware, I have both a modded wii and a modded wiiu.

I played this and all the voices are English.......... so im not sure what this even is? It just seems to be Bloody Roar for GameCube. I dont notice a single thing different?

No, it was released on Xbox also

Which is wrong because the voices definitely are "touched", this is literally just the English version of Bloody Roar Extreme. I just played this and everyone speaks in english

Also sorry to double post, but I just wanted to say within playing this for half an hour the game has locked-up/froze a total of 2 times. And I am certain it is not my setup thats the problem here (as i run games on a modded wii, which virtually never gives me any problem ever at any point with roms, especially GCN) so I just wanted to say this romhack is pretty trash.

Aside from the supposed "original japanese voice acting" (which I havent heard once, all voice lines seems to be in english as least in the hour or so i spent in this i havent noticed any japanese language voices) the game also has a huge problem with periodically crashing or locking up. I would just avoid even bothering with this, just play the retail release of this game instead
I've tested it myself and played through Arcade mode and everything was fine. And some characters speak English in the Japanese version of the game, while other characters speak Japanese. All of them, even the English-speaking ones, were dubbed again for the U.S./PAL release. I'll download this prepatched ISO myself and see if it does anything different but in all my testing my own ISOs have never crashed on real hardware. I had a couple of lock-ups in Dolphin while I was making them and messing with things, but never after they were all put together. That's not to say I don't believe you, just that I need to see for myself to try to figure out why it's happening.

Well Spike's prepatched ISO matches with the one I have, and I booted into a match of Yugo V.S. Gado and you can immediately hear that Yugo is in Japanese and Gado is in English (because Gado speaks English in the Japanese release, albeit with a different actor). I'll still have to do my own more extensive testing on real hardware to be sure, but judging by how you came in and immediately started talking about how trash everything is while also getting things factually wrong about what the game is and what the patch does, I don't really feel that you're a reliable narrator here. You also provided no information about what you were doing in each instance when the game locked up, so it doesn't particularly seem like you care about it working, just about pointing out that it doesn't. Try being nicer to people who are doing things for you and trying to help.

Wow this was exclusive for gamecube?

The Japanese version of the game was released later and fixes a couple of issues present in the U.S. release, and also includes a hidden character not present in any other release. The patch simply translates all Japanese text present in the game and doesn't touch the voices. So not really an undub because it doesn't touch the voices in the first place.

I'm getting a "bad dump" error when testing this on swiss using picoboot. is there any way to get the "full primal xbox cutscenes version" posted? I tried patching it myself but can't find a .rvz file that works with the patch @Spike

can someone explain the general purpose of this hack?
English Text No Re-Dub is basically an undub, right? But what about the other variants? I confused with all the description.

From the source:
Code:
The various patches do the following:

English Text No Re-Dub: Fully translates all Japanese text into English, including cutscene text, but keeps all voices from the Japanese release, including the announcer.

English Text Basic Re-Dub: Fully translates all Japanese text into English, including cutscene text, and replaces Japanese voices from the Japanese release, but retains voices that were already in English, including the announcer.

English Text Full Re-Dub: Fully translates all Japanese text into English, including cutscene text, and replaces all character voices from the Japanese release, but retains the announcer.

Partial Primal: Fully translates all Japanese text into English, including cutscene text, and replaces Japanese voices from the Japanese release, but retains voices that were already in English. Uses the U.S. announcer. Replaces Extreme logos with Primal Fury, replaces Marvel with Shina.

Full Primal: Fully translates all Japanese text into English, including cutscene text, and replaces all voices from the Japanese release, including the announcer. Replaces Extreme logos with Primal Fury, replaces Marvel with Shina.

Each patch also has an Xbox Cutscene variant if you want the newer, CGI cutscenes from the Xbox version of Extreme.

Huge shout out to both BloodRaynare and Sigma who have done their own different patches and who helped me greatly in making this one.
Seems self explanatory.
