Many people may not grow up with this spinning toy, I can't blame you. After the OG Bakuten Shoot Beyblade anime, I stopped watching the other generations as it is not edgy enough (as a child) and the animation changed, the beyblades are now in 3D. As a child growing up with your childhood adventures, growing up with the trendy toys at the time (Super yoyo, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, Crush Gear, etc.) It has always been a dream to be like that from those anime series, going out with friends to travel to places and challenge people to whatever trendy toys are at the time. But as a child, either that's hard to do or you simply can't. (Life is not like Pokemon, I know).
But this time, one of those toy trend from the past has came back. Well, it didn't left anyway but this toy line has came back big this generation. Beyblade X. This is the 4th generation Beyblade series. This time, Takara Tomy the creators of the toy had made their minds to make the game more serious than ever. They market this generation as a sport. They even name it under a sub-sport genre they call "Gear Sports".
Beyblade nowadays is designed similar to a smart or athletic vibe. Just with the Bit chip / gear chip (The middle part where the animal or creature design is) design alone, you can see that it looks like a sports team logo.
They even made the design a bit of a minimalistic approach, from the Beyblade X logo, to the blade boxes themself. It's marketing and advertisement shows adult, playing the game. Those with business attires and casual street cloths. This time, this game is serious.
It's not just the design that has changed, the whole battle has changed as well. The way the Beyblades clash to each other. They're giving the freedom of customization, the feeling of making your own design or combo by combining multiple different parts such as Main blades, Ratchet and Bit.
Main blades has their own unique design and quirks, some gives you a balance design to outspin enemy blades, others give you that ultimate One hit wonder attack blade. Some even have some gimmicks too like inner blades or rolling blades.
Ratchets determine the sizes, additional balance or stability and height. It can even give additional protection based on the ratchet that you'll pick. (There's actually a lot).
Bits are the most exciting part of the game, a single bit can change how a Beyblade works as bits change how the Beyblade moves, stays in the stadium and even determine the speed as well.
Combining the 3 parts and making your own design and combo felt satisfying especially when you see it work. Of course there are meta builds which are no brainer. It's more exciting to come up with your own. But to each their own I guess.
Not affiliated with the channel but here are some example of how Beyblade fights are going right now. It's exciting, clutch and hype! Watch and see what the fuzz is all about. I hope you guys enjoy and maybe play the game too! Since we're adults now, we can go out there and be the best there is. There's literally a lot of cafe and stores that has Beyblade tournaments not to mention international ones too!
