Vita is the only PlayStation I don’t own, so I’ve been wondering about getting into it nowadays. What games do you think are neat? Ports are fine too, as I know the Vita wasn’t known for its library! I just want to know what software people here are in love with.

People say it's like Monster Hunter but it's really not. It's a mission based, arena action game with a large focus on lore. Takes inspiration from Grimm fairy tales. Seriously, read the lore.


Muramasa: Rebirth
Enhanced port of a Wii game with extra dlc. Made by Vanillaware so you know the art will be good. 2D side scrolling action game.

I got a Vita just before the whole lockdown a few years back. I think the games I play the most on it are the Atelier series. I always loved those games, but DAMN are they expensive on console. Being able to get them for free finally allowed me to play and enjoy them. Finished the Arland trilogy and then the first two games of the Dusk trilogy, enjoyed all of them. Only tapered off with the third Dusk game, Shallie.

Also been trying out FFX-2. Never finished it on the PS2, and the Vita version has a bunch of extra content the PS2 one never had. I think X-2 had one of my favourite combat systems of any FF game. Being able to switch classes on the fly was brilliant, and cutting your team down to just three characters helped avoid the issue other FF games had of letting your party slip out of focus and have nothing to do.

Really wish that HD port of Zone of Enders made it to Vita. I wanna play that game again, especially since my crappy laptop can't handle ZoE2.

EDIT: Oh, almost forgot - Zero Escape! Finally got to play VLR when I got my Vita, that game is awesome! Don't like 999 at all, ZTD is pretty good, but VLR is one of my faves.

Didn't know this thread was a thing. A lot of the golden age of Vanillaware is on Vita. Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Dragon's Crown, Grand Knights History (fan translated), and Muramasa Rebirth. All on Vita. No GrimGrimoire or Princess Crown though.

Pretty much all of Vanillaware's library available on the Vita are worth getting, but I would ESPECIALLY say Muramasa Rebirth since that hasn't been released on any other console. For the best experience, try to get the DLC for the game, those stories are really fun, and I had a lot of memories excitedly looking forward to their releases back in the day.

Even if you already have the Wii original, it's still worth playing Rebirth because the graphics are more vibrant and cleaner on the Vita, and it got a whole new translation that's more accurate to the original Japanese text.

Gravity Rush was also pretty fun when I played it.

I'd also say Zanki Zero: Last Beginning, even though I really liked that more for the story.

Shiren 5, also available on switch and steam. A classic roguelike series; this is my personal favorite in the franchise. Same devs as the Pokémon and Chocobo Mystery Dungeon games, but this is their own IP. Lots of challenging enemies and dungeons to tackle.

You can also play Shiren 4 on the Vita through Adrenaline, as it very recently received an English translation.

I would say Muramasa Rebirth, my favorite Vanillaware game and the best Vita game I have ever played. Glad I found that game and played it on Vita. I hope this game will have ported to another system (Switch, maybe).

Second is Persona 4 Golden, yeah, appear on many Vita ranking list.

Also, I recommend Kiseki games (Trails games), start with Liberl arc (Sky triology), then Crossbell arc (Zero and Azure), finish with Cold Steel I and II. You can play 8 games of it. All of them are connected with plot and characters.

Some of the many games I've loved on Vita, just at they come to mind:
-Gravity Rush (my first experience with a game using the motion controls)
-Wipeout 2048 (fast and futuristic)
-Muramasa Rebirth (gorgeous art and fast combat)
-Odin Sphere (same as above, I recommend this one though I've originally played it 100% on ps2)
-Hyperdevotion Noire (for me it's been a nice strategy rpg and I liked the chibi graphics)
