James Gunn has definitely made it clear that Robert Pattinson will be reprising his role as the Caped Crusader, but not as the DCU's Batman. So that means the door is open to a new Batman, with only a few things set in stone. He's been in the cowl for a while, James Gunn doesn't want a campy Batman, and Bruce will be meeting Damian for the first time.

Personally I'm open to another Batman and I trust James Gunn's vision even if I did want a lighter Batman as a direct contrast to the grim and gritty Matt Reeves movie. But this means another production crew gets another shot at defining Gotham's grimy streets and her stalwart guardian monster.

I'm hoping for a Gotham City that's a tarnished glory. Art Deco rotting from corruption, with evidence that some are trying to stop the creeping sickness killing Gotham. Think ornate towers piercing the clouds, cracked from disuse, their windows dark and shattered. But scaffolding around the edges, proof of the good men and women of Gotham trying to clean things up. That Gotham is a dark and scary place, but that Gothamites are trying to come together to pull it out of the muck.

And for Batman, I'm hoping for a man scarred by hundreds of battles and wizened by years of success and failure. I'm thinking of a build similar to the Neal Adams Batman with slightly more mass. Any actor should have presence in the cowl, be good as an actor, and hopefully be able to fight. In temperament I want a nicer and more fallible version of the Arkham Batman, a very prepared and dangerous man, who has a big heart and a lot of issues. The kind of man who keeps the smokebombs for armed gunmen in the pouch next to lollipops for scared kids looking for Mom. In terms of costume I want a batsuit that's more cloth than armor, something with long ears, sharp fins on the gloves, a yellow emblem, and a blue and gray color scheme. A perfect blend of the Batman Inc. suit and the 70's-90's suit.

So that leads me to this. What are you guys hoping for? Any specific actors? Costume choices? or any small touches?

I don't trust James Gunn after that Superman movie , every actor and actress did a great job but the movie was a total mess , not a single serious moment was allowed to exist without some dumb joke at the end , Superman was tremendously weak and needed help from that stupid dog all the time and lex luthor became a tantrum throwing toddler, so i'm sure James Gunn Will turn the next Batman movie into a complete travesty.

On the subject of the costume for Batman , he NEEDS full body armor at least like the one in Batman Arkham Origins , remember that he doesn't have superpowers to protect him.

i would like to see something akin the brave and the bold cartoon sort of batman being in this dcu i think it will be unique thought it might really since the public has his specific idea of batman this very specific idea that might make it a tough sell for a lot of people.

My ideal DCU Batman is just the exact tone and look of the Burton movies only with actually good, faithful to the character writing

Ben Afleck was cool as Batman.Dark and Hard.Nobody liked it but damn that was like in the comics.Dark and gritty and Punisher style

I want a Batman movie that doesn't have Batman in it. Give me Nightwing or Batgirl. We've done Batman enough times already. I love the Batman character, but I also love the characters surrounding him and they always get ignored. I wish we could move on from Batman already.

I just want something fresh. We don't need another Batman movie. We already have enough good ones with Batman (89), Batman Returns, The Dark Knight and The Batman.

Gotham has so many cool characters and stories and all we keep getting is Batman reboot after Batman reboot after Batman reboot (I didn't even mention Joel Schumacher's Batman)

If I could pinpoint one gripe that I feel has done more damage than even the whole "everything needs to be a franchise" or "everything needs to be a multiverse" has done as a takeaway from superhero movies, it's this. I despise the "well that just happened!" type of writing that utterly deflates any kind of stakes, tension or drama from any and all scenes. It might've been quirky or funny a decade and a bit ago, but it's not now. Give me serious. Give me gritty. Give me something that isn't a scene being undercut by some smarmy joke.
