Alright, skimming The Repo I thought King's Knight and Lagrange Point looked pretty good. Everything else... not so much.

But because I feel bad for wasting peoples time, what are some of your favorite NES games?

Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest 1/2/3 are the big rpgs on NES but I never played them back then in their original form.
NES had a ton of great games that arent rpgs though.

I was gonna say, almost all the nes/fc rpg games in the repo look like they're worth checking out. The 2 best being the classics Dragon Warrior & FF.

Blader & sweet home especially are 2 games I've been meaning to get into

Aside from the above mentioned FF/DQ games, of which I'd also give FF2 and FF3 a look as well, there's translation patches available. There's also Faxanadu and Zelda 2 which are both side scrolling RPGs, I'd recommend the Zelda 2 redux hack if you do check it out. There's also some ports of the Ultima games on nes which I've never played so can't really give an opinion on. Also, I enjoyed Shadowgate on the GBC when I was younger. There's also a nes version. It's a point and click adventure not an rpg, but it has a fantasy setting and it's pretty fun.

Sweet Home by Capcom. It's a good horror RPG

Dream Master is a really cool underrated RPG.

Dragon Warrior 4, Legacy of the Wizard, Faxanadu, Crystalis, Final Fantasy 2 and Star Tropics are all good games that may be what you are looking for.

bro this game is ass lmao there's a reason it got cancelled

anyway, the essential RPG series on the famicom is dragon quest. it's one of the main reasons why the console was such an absurd success. so yeah, I suppose you're missing that.

RPGs on the console in general are really mid. in my humble opinion it's only cool as a historical thing, but up to you

There are Megami Tensei games on the Fami but they might be pretty damn crusty these days lol. As for non RPGs - Vice Project Doom kicks ass.
