I recently went to a Hi-Fi store and had a really nice discussion with this Lebanese guy who worked there about Arabic music. He showed me "Enta Omri" by Umm Kulthum and I was blown away by how powerful her voice was and the command she had over the accompanying orchestra. I was wondering if anybody had any more suggestions for me to look into for music from this region of the world.

Salaam, here are a few that you may like,
- This is from Pakistan,
- This needs no introduction I believe,
- Just a Trap music I like.

And one more from the Legend - Abida Parveen & Naseebo Lal

The only middle eastern song that gets my comrades strong and true!
FOR THE GLA, WE WILL NOT BE OPPRESSED!

Looks like my time to shine!
A recommendation I have is
Sahsah Ya Maelma by Ahemd Adaweya.
Another is any song made by Ruby.

thanks yall for the recs. ill be bookmarking this! :D

[CONTINUATION, CAUSE I HIT THE "5 PIECES OF MEDIA PER MESSAGE" LIMIT]
And, last but certainly not least, Red Kalbi by Balqees Fathi.
Honorable mention:
Seta El Sobah by Husain Al Jassmi.

100% not what you're looking for and probably just shows my lack of cultural awareness but for some reason this popped into my head after reading this.

"We're losing this battle, start fighting or I'll find someone who can!"

I’m a native speaker and resident, if you need questions asked, lemme know, I’m somewhat choked at the moment so I can’t send anything but a few moments later I will : )))

When I was living in France I discovered Raï and a great exponent of this genre was Khaled (Cheb Khaled) who then ranged into other more pop areas. One of his most famous songs was Aicha which had become a catchphrase at the time.

"Enta Omri" by Umm Kulthum
This was also my introduction to arabic music, sooo good

Assala is another of the big ones, love this song. If you liked Enta Omri you'll probably like this too

I find it pretty interesting that arabic classical pop music songs are usually quite long, the total opposite to what we understand as pop music here

There's also this compilation that one of my favourite channels uploaded yesterday

Also never forget this absolute gem

Jordanian band called Albaitil Ashwai البيت العشوائي makes good stuff
There's a Oud عود player who makes good remixes and some original songs
There's a genre of sung classical poetry called موشح here's a playlist of Andalusian ones
One of them sung by Oman's national orchestra
If you're into metal there's a Saudi band that mixes it with traditional styles
