I was having really bad day. Awful shift at work. Had Ape Escape 2 on my PC for a while because it looked fun and silly. So that night I put the kettle on and gave it a spin. Ooh man, within minutes I had a big 'ol smile on my face. Just what the doctor ordered. The camera is old school, and the controls are, unique. Not bad but certainly take some getting used to. Everything else, lovely. *Mwah* The characters, your lil base of operations with the gatcha machine and PS2 (not hooked up to a TV bizzarely, even though there is a TV in the room). Natalie. When I got my first "Golden banana! :D" awh that made me so happy.

Played it for about and hour and a half so far. Fuckin' bangs, 9/10. It was the dose of cartoonish joy I hoped for after a few bad days sinking into a routine of saddness tied to work. Gonna take steps to make that better, but right now I got me some Apes to scoop up.

Ape Escape 3 is my favorite Sony platformer of all time. Ape escape is my favorite Sony platforming series along ratchet and clank. Excellent fun and cutesy games with great esoteric and puzzle gameplay and fun and varied gameplay. I’m happy to see someone else enjoying it as if means a lot to me and it’s nice to see you having fun with it. I’m sry work was bad so I hope this game will brighten up the day, somehow.
I recommend 3 the most cuz of all the transformations.

I have only played the first one but man... I have really fond memories of it, for a ps1 era 3d platformer is awesome, it felt so varied, so big. I was honestly pretty involved with the story, when the monkeys reach the present day and invade, and even kidnap your friends. And monkey carnival was an awesome finale with several bosses in different areas, and that climb that felt like it goes all the way to the sky before the fight with specter. And the controls... sure, it was a gimmick, but they really pushed using the analogs in a time where all games were optional. I really liked stuff like suddenly attacking behind me because you attack in the direction you push the right analog regardless of the direction you are moving. Or pushing it delicately to move slowly and sneak up on many of the monkeys. Using the face buttons to change tools reminds me of Zelda OoT and helped keep the pace of the game.

Unironically I think this is the ultimate 3D platformer of that era, even above the likes of Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie.

Love this series. Im still surprised that they haven't did a remaster or a collection for it.

BUT.....I think we may have some hope on the way. Team Asobi, makers of Astrobot, has said they loved the series and they even p[aid homage to Ape Escape in MANY ways in Astrobot. Could they make the next entry in the series? Perhaps Remaster the original trilogy?? I can only hope!

Glad you are having fun with it. Ape Escape 3 is my favorite of the series, but every one of them rocks.

Wow what a coincidence! I just started playing Ape Escape 3 today!

I loooved Ape Escape 1 on the PS1. The vibes were insane. I sucked at it though, cause for some reason I was physically incapable of comprehend how to properly use the joysticks until I got the PS2 lol.

It's just such a silly and charming franchise. I first got to play Ape Escape 2 on the PS4, and had a great time, but since I was a kid I wanted to play Ape Escape 3 the most. I had a demo on the PS2 for it, and I replayed that so much. I loved the aesthetic, the music, the whole "the apes have taken over the TV" setting, and the transformations were just the coolest thing ever as a kid. I never got it sadly, so here I and I've got to say I'm not disappointed at all. Awesome games. I need to play Mesal Gear Solid: Snake Escape at some point.
