Coming from a Sonic fan since the late 2000s, I remember enjoying the show alot as a young kid. But looking back at it now as i gotten older(im 25 years old right now) It sadly didn't aged as well to my liking. The reason what brings down the show for me is the fact that Chris Throndyke took over about Sonic's spotlight, I mean that kid is so annoying that fans probably wished he was written off the show, and the Show's writing is kinda ass too. The best moments is what the show had going for it is the Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 arcs, and Season 3(Metarex arc) But aside from that, the show is kinda mid. By the way, I would advise watching the Japanese version, because of the fact 4kids playing it too safe with show by editing out or removing content that isn't suitable for that specific demographic such as removing deaths, violence and such, But anyways, what are your thoughts on this show even 20+ years later.

Having watched SatAM, AOSTH, and the OVA before X, I wasn't crazy about X beyond the first episode. Never even heard about Underground until YEARS later when i found it as a bonus episode on a Zelda VHS tape. No really. lol

It's easily the best Sonic show. Season 3 is peak!

it's good, I'm still laughing at the fact that everytime Rouge is in the screen there's always saxophone music

Legitimally how i met Sonic, No, really, all the gaming i knew was Nintendo when it was airing, so AFAIK, Sonic was a unique Anime character, to the point when a cousin brought a GBA to a family party with Sonic Advance 2, i though it was a licensed game

Regarding the show itself, i loved it, i was obsesed with Jetix's Anime block, and that series wasn't a exception, sadly it wasn't until i got Internet that i got to see the series as intended, since i got the mangled 4kids Spanish dub, the show is pretty good, starting relatively kiddy but showing great plot development and having stakes as the plot progress, and surprinsingly for these kind of plots, the show actually balances human and non-human screentime

Also No te tocaba Cosmo (It wasn't your time to go Cosmo)

The Japanese Version is some Top Tier Anime Kino. Worth a watch

That the Metarex arc is where this anime really "begins", to this day I don't understand how they are unique to the anime and never appeared in the games. SEGA, please stop bringing stories involving stupid Sonic OCs and make Dark Oak a proper and official villain in the games.

TMS (the animation studio that made Sonic X) still owns the rights to the Sonic X exclusive material.

It got me into Sonic as a 11 year old, I knew of sonic before but I didn't care until X introduced me to Adventure's/Advances narratives.
But the entire show is fundamentally ruined by the inclusion of Chris.
We all like to blame 4kids, rightfully so they did censor a lot but the show is flawed from the start.
Not even the original JP dialogue truly fixes this problem.

But it didn't have to be this way:
We almost has a show where Eggman was the only Human.
Every one else would have been anthropomorphic. A furry president, GUN Operatives etc.
No dimensional stargate thingie needed
It could have been amazing.

Japanese version is better. Everyone except Chris are good.
Never understood the hate for Chris. Like, yeah, he's not as memorable as the other characters, but what did he do to become the series' Jar Jar Binks?

When they created a portal back to Sonics world every one got to go home, but just before Sonic himself stepped through the stargate Chris shut off the portal because he wanted to keep Sonic as some unholy combination of pet & friend with no respect for Sonics autonomy.

The show never punished him is I recall, it was used as an incredibly heavy handed moral lesson about letting go of your friends.
Despite it being kidnapping at best, an attempt at slavery at worst ☠️
Bare in mind he did this because he was lonely. Despite Sonic and the gang fixing his relationship between Chris and his previously estranged family & the kid being repeatedly shown to go in crazy adventures using super science vehicles like he was Johnny Quest even without Sonic.

That and how his inclusion derailed most of season 1 & 2 arc's as he wasn't present in the source material the show tried to adapt.
It's why people only seem to like him in Season 3, when the show stopped adapting things and created original content the writers found ways to naturally include him as an integral part of the team. Something that never, ever happened in the earlier episodes.
