So for a while I have been eyeing a VITA to add to my collection because Gravity Rush has been interested me and I want some other AFFORDABLE recommendations so I can have a decent starter collection

With retro scalpers on the loose you might be looking for games that are min. 20 USD to 40 USD

it has a very emotive story, in a crative way that uses the vita hardware

AoT Wings of Freedom is cool if u r a fan of the series. Nothing spectacular, but had my fun in it

Macross delta is easily the best mech game on the vita, it's also one of the best looking games on there too.

Vita had a a lot of great games.

Going to second Odin Sphere and Muramasa Rebirth. The Rebirth DLC is still exclusive to the Vita and I highly recommend the DLC. Fishy Tales of the Nekomata and A Spirited Seven Nights' Haunting were my favorite dlc episodes.

I also recommend Dragon's Crown, Persona 4 Golden, and Tearaway. A lot of the Vita's library has been ported to other consoles at this time, but Tearaway is still unique and feels different to the PS4 version.

The PS Mobile version of Tokyo Jungle was available on Vita and it's different from the PS3 version in that it is now turn-based on a grid. It's a great version. But I don't know that there is a way to play it nowadays?

I enjoyed freedom wars but it's not a game for everybody but maybe you'd love it, aside from that it's a cheap game even more since it got recently a remastered on other platforms so you might get a copy for 5-10$

Im not an expert but I suggest the vita versions of Disgaea 3 and 4, and maybe Tales of Innocence R.

pretty much any of the first party Sony games are worth checking out. Gravity Rush (even though it was remastered on consoles) tearaway, Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

Muramasa rebirth is also a good shout. That's a really solid game.

Gundam Breaker 3
Shiren the wanderer
God Eater 2 Rage Burst
The Project Diva games
Uppers

There are also a bunch of Vita games that were also released unchanged on PS4 but are better played on the bigger console for fewer performance issues. Games like Nights of Azure or Odin Sphere Leifthasir

I also have a soft spot for the Senran Kagura games and Valkyrie Drive

Seconding Dragon’s Crown.

Excellent Beat-em-Up RPG with amazing graphics and art!

Soul Sacrifice Delta is number one on my list of games I WISH would get a PC release. It's MAGIC. I fell in love with the game from the first moment I played it. Also the hilarious team composition you could pull was always great. Even with the VITA's relatively small userbase, you always could find someone playing that.

It depends, what do you register as affordable? you're looking for games from a console that died years ago that didn't sell well and became niche even back then.

I wouldn't be surprised if you find out that you have to deal with prices that usually go higher than 50€, for second hand games, if you don't know japanese.

If rhythm games are your jam, I'd say Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F and X
Adding Taiko no Tatsujin for Vita to this. Japanese only (there's a patch and many, many extra songs, but I'm not sure if you're going the jailbreak route). It's fairly affordable and the controls are surprisingly great, playing with the little sticks is super fun and intuitive.

Zanki Zero also has an English patch and is super affordable. It's an often overlooked game with a fairly interesting premise and great characters. I enjoyed it a lot when I played it last year on my Vita.
