You know, life long or partially life long memories that you think will stick with you even when you're like 80 in a hover wheelchair talking about the RGT days and saying to your grandkids "The zoo? Fuck the zoo! Let's play videogames!" What are some? For me I still remember the flavor of my very first birthday cake. It was lemon flavored. Each time I get something similar, that day floods in. I remember the house, where it was, who was there, that the cake was round, and even the cereal we had being cheerios and lucky charms. I told my mom about it once, plus another memory but that one is a little on weirder side, and she freaked out. Speaking of which, if it is strange or too personal either dw about it or put it in spoilers or something. Anyway share away.

EDIT: Well for the weirder one I guess I'll say it
So I remember seeing my older brother walk for the first time through my mom's eyes while she was pregnant with me. I remember it being in the living room of the old house where there was a walkway and my aunt commenting saying "He's going to be a bodybuilder or a lumberjack when he grows up!" since he went straight for it without holding on to anything. I told my mom about it plus what my aunt said and she confirmed that she did say that, and was reasonably a little freaked out. Okay, weird over.

Literally the first thing I can remember is my father taking me to see Godzilla 1985 in the theaters. I was about two years old. I remember the theater feeling like it was the size of an opera house in a movie. I remember wanting to crawl under my seat at the part where they had to airlift the people out of the building.

EAnd you can see from my comments that I am a happy person, kind to everyone, with the utmost respect, even if I don't have the same joy.

Some of my favorite memories are video game related. My mom and dad surprising me with a Sega Genesis on my 6th birthday (my mom even made me a cake with Sonic drawn on it, but it was missing his red sneakers). Waking up on Christmas to get something to eat and finding Gameboy games in the fridge (was later gifted an Atomic Purple Gameboy Color). Going with my babysitter to rent Ape Escape, her buying me a copy of the ADV Sonic OVA and lunch from Taco Bell and just spending the Saturday stuffing my face and playing Ape Escape (my Dad later got it for me in his "care packages" i.e. a bunch of PS1 games that he'd send me)

TodosWe all have a good story with our parents. Another story I remember is that when I was a kid, I would go to the DVD stand with my parents to buy my movies.

I'll never forget the day I discovered Racing Lagoon and played it for the first time. I was like a happy motherfucker caveman who accidentally discovered a spaceship. No video game amazed me in a constant "no way dude" way ever again by surprising me with the content it has. As a person who loves street racing games it's da game that is the best for me that nothing can pass that legend. Never ever!!! I played the game so much for so long sessions my PS1 gone blind, replaced its part, it gone blind again. I made me PS1 cry playing this game lolol.

I don't know why, but I'm often thinking about one particular summer afternoon back when I was five: I was sitting on the yard, eating a particularly delicious vanilla ice cream that was rapidly melting on my hand, making it all sticky while the Super Mario Super Show played somewhere in the kitchen and my pet turtles chased each other near the faucet.

Everything seemed so much brighter back then... A golden filter that had yet to start to fade, an unpoisoned soul that still believed in good and evil, in fairy tales and stories; in the fairness of the world.

Sometimes I wonder where she is, whether that soul killed herself or just left on her own -- a light swallowed by shadows.

I've got a really good memory so there's a lot of this stuff. To the point that people go, "how come you can remember all this weird minutiae but you can't find a way to make money with it?"

I feel like there's a lot I could say here, but I guess the 2 earliest memories I can recall are the ones that will always stick with me. One of them I'm not gonna share for personal reasons, but the other one I will (Which is also my earliest memory as well) because as weird as it is, it's quite funny.

So it was after coming home from my first family holiday to Barcelona (Which I don't remember anything of, I guess my memory capabilities kicked in immediately after coming home), but I woke up before anyone else and went downstairs into the living room, and for some reason I started running around the room on all fours with one side of my face flat on the floor, just running back and forth across the room like that. My mum then comes downstairs and stands in the doorway looking at me with an expression that can only say: "Wtf are you doing?". I stop, look up at her and say "I'm so happy we're home" and then I go straight back to doing what I was just doing. I still have no idea what compelled me to do any of that, but it makes me laugh when I think about it.

I've got two that come to mind right now.

Looking out over the foggy coast of Vietnam in the early, early morning in the absolute middle of nowhere after a 28 hour bus ride.
I couldn't understand Vietnamese and nobody around me could speak English, yet a kind stranger handed me a cup of coffee and we watched some people bike by as the sun came up.

A couple friends and I visited another friend in Portugal and he guided us up a mountain path around this tourist attraction castle ruin that eventually led into the castle itself, where we snuck up one of the towers and watched out over the city at night from up there while the local security guards were minding their own business down in the lower floors.
Genuinely one of the coolest, most irreplicable experiences and the single best trip of my life.

I can tell you the precise moment I fell in love with the Gen 2 Dodge Viper GTS. And it all has to do with the first Gran Turismo. I vividly remember sitting patiently in front of the TV in the living room of my grandma's apartment, letting the game run idle so it would play the intro again, or rather one of the demo movies the game had. The screen went black for a few seconds then I see 6 sports car lining up on the front stretch of Grand Valley Speedway. 3,2,1, Go! Off they went. As they streak past the start/finish line, the camera switches to the Dodge Viper GTS. With its long front end, short rear end with the iconic duck tail spoiler, & of course, the iconic blue pain job with white racing stripes. That couple of seconds of the Viper on screen made me fell in love with the second coming of the Shelby Cobra.

I woke myself up after my first colonoscopy by ripping the loudest & longest fart in my entire life. The nurse assured me I wouldn't remember. She was wrong.

Similarly, the first time I had root beer I guzzled it, the let out such a long belch that I was turning blue in the face before it ended and I was able to breathe again. I also remember my first slice of pepperoni pizza - I didn't have teeth yet. I gummed the living f- out of the slice let me tell you.

for some reason I remember my 14 years old self playing some snes emulators on my pentium 4 PC on my old 19inch samsung CRT, specifically I remember playing bahamut lagoon on a rainy day, I really regret wiping out that hard drive, I had all my save files there and I destroyed them all.

One day my mom was taking me back home from daycare on a bike we had. I don't exactly remember the reason, but at one point she stopped it, right ontop of a wooden bridge with no guard rails. Suddenly, the bike started to tilt (I figured she lost balance), and we would have fallen if it weren't for a stranger who grabbed one of the handlebar grips.

I still wonder if I could've died that day.

I once went out of state to visit a friend and was crashing on her couch. She went to go to bed after we were watching TV or something. I, in a half-asleep stupor from a really long but fun day, put myself in a position like Johnny Sasaki in Metal Gear and proceeded to rip about a 45-second fart. It just kept going and would not stop, like how much gas can a human body contain? I didn't even laugh or anything, I just was relieved. Then I looked over and she had come out of the bedroom to tell me something and stopped just in time. Not in horror, but more in awe, I think. Anyway, she laughed way more than I did, but if you gotta rip one, you rip it imo.

You had better have married her.

I usually never clean my room except to clean the dust off my desk and shelf, I decided to do a full cleaning that day and my dad saw me put my old shoes on the side as they were slighty dirty. He said to put them on the backyard and that he would clean them for me the next day. That never ended up happening as that very night he had some breathing problems and passed away in the hospital. Is a small thing I know I will never forget.

I have a bunch, but my God, my mind will not forget the time I booted up Deus Ex.

I just got the game because I saw that it was $0.89 on Steam, and I heard about the game a bit. Second I opened it, I headed straight for the settings.

You know that feeling of someone just hitting you beside the head with a sledge-hammer with no warning? Imagine that, but the second the beat drops with the title theme. I don't know why, maybe it's just my autism, but I physically had to stop once the song started. It was fucking awesome listening to it for the first time. I don't think I can ever forget the opening. I don't think I have played any other game with such raw energy in the intro song.

Anyone wondering, Deus Ex is one of my favorite games of all-time.

Hm... one odd memory I have that never quite left me is renting the Mega Drive version of Dick Tracy one weekend and basically trying to clear the last few stages while eating some sort of peanut flavored candy when I was much younger.

I couldn't clear the game in the end, but heck, I loved peanut flavored anything, since then.
