Hollywood is trash now. I do not want to order what they have cooking. So what am I to do? Ah, yes, fan films~

As a fanfiction reader and fan game enjoyer, I see what's really going on here. Everyone is sick of the slop. Fine then, I'll do it myself-

Post your favorite fan films here. I'll go ahead and post peak:

This Zelda fan film made me cry. I'm getting old, but damn it, I can still kick some ass, and will do so whenever ass needs to be kicked.

Oh hell yeah, now we're talking. Shadow the Hedgehog, my boy, my dude. I love this tragic character so much, ever since I played SA2 for days on end.

Better than the Halo TV show imo. They should've gotten this crew to make a show, it's so freakin' dope. Watch this right now if you love Halo!!!

A very old fan movie of Mother 1. The VHS style just fits it so perfectly. I love this classic. Check it out!!

Ending this with a whole damn Metal Gear Solid movie! Enjoy!

What are some good fan films that you like? Post them here!

I'd rather watch AI slop converted into a movie than take anymore current hollywood, millennial writing & marvel humor.

It's rather shitty now, but as a child, I very much enjoyed this one:

I remember, for whatever reason, that I thought it was official.

What's annoying is that I remember there being sequels to this video. One is a full animation remake, and the other involves Bowser being revived through the sacrifice of a star. Unfortunately, it seems they've been lost to time.

There was a fan-made movie or show based on Fallout New Vegas that looks pretty good, professional quality for being made by regular people. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it though; good luck finding  anything about it now that there's the official TV show. ::sadkirby

Is it one of these?

Star Trek : Axanar (2014) was looking to be amazing, so amazing CBS sent over a cease and desist and enforced rules that any future Star Trek fan film that's over 15 minutes long would be copyright nuked from Orbit:
Because it was set in the time period as Discovery, only Axanar actually hired previous Star Trek actors & actresses whilst crafting a story that wouldn't clash with the established lore. You know.
The opposite of Discovery & Nu-Treks obsession with intermediate prequels.

Myths Bad ending is fantastic:
You don't need to know Hololive myth's lore to get it, but it helps. This is why Vtubing is special.

Then there is Star Wreck: In the Prikinning (2005) a Finnish feature length Star Trek x Babylon 5 cross over film that has better VFX than both Babylon 5 & Star Trek
The studio would go onto make Iron Sky. It later got a physical release with the ships re-skinned into somewhat copyright friendly variants.
Trying to source space battle footage that hasn't been compressed to death is tricky but this music video edit from 8 years ago has mostly escaped youtubes compression:
I remember downloading this back in 2006 using Divx & ASL internet. Wild times

Past that... I know it's not a film but: Battle at Helios Delta 6
IRL Lore, this man spend (two or four, my memory is a little rusty) years working on this on his home PC, as BSG was still airing to prove a point that the VFX could be done without needing a studio, and it cost him his marriage. It is the epitome of an all consuming passion project.

Asa a kid I adored this, though I'm sure it's got at least a few archaic and unfunny references in it now. Don't have the time to watch it now, but probably will later now that I've remembered it.

I was going to post another, an ancient Wing Commander: Prophecy fan animation from Spacebattles.com made back in 1998 but I actually can't source it anymore.
Despite me having it saved on my old family computer from around 2004-2009 it doesn't appear to be on youtube and my YT account from back them was nuked during the google merger of 2011.

That might be lost media now.

Anyway, here's Batman vs the Predator:

And one of MASSIVE cultural importance over in Japan. Return of Ultraman:
Made by Hideaki Anno, to heavily abridge his career he's the Gunbuster (1988) Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) & Shin Ultraman (2022) creator. The man started out making Doujinishi films.
(Doujin meaning to self publish a work, including unofficial fan project in Japan. It's association with NSFW material in the west is a failing of old internet culture)
