I played the FDS version a long time ago but didn't get very far. So I downloaded this because it's easier to play NES ROMS. Flippin' disks and all that.

This game is really fun and playable. It's not too hard and controls well. Medusa boss is Hell. But they give you such a tiny fighting area. You have to explore each stage to find the three diamonds. You can find them in any order. Sometimes they are guarded by bosses in an adjoining room. Don't touch the diamond or you will receive damage. Shoot it five times and it will become small. Then you can pick it up. There's a good variety of level designs. It's easy to refill your health by farming apples from the fodder enemies. I'm not sure what pants do. But you need the shirts for armor and the boots for damage zones. You can also pick up bombs. Press select to use them.

The pants protect you from lava and water. The shoes increase jump and walk speed. This version may be missing some power ups. I'm not entirely sure. I'm only on stage five and there are seven stages total.

Fds game is kinda hard to emulate. I've been using emulator from the simplest to the most complicated ones but have no luck with fds game except few.

For a direct/based port of this FDS Game to FC without a license is pretty good even though the FDS version is a 100% Official Game.
