You are living in a fully integrated smart home... locks, lights, air conditioning, outlets, security cameras. Everything is controlled by your smart home. You are wealthy enough to afford a Boston Dynamics, Atlas robot... One night, you hear the robot and your Alexa sound bar talking to each other in Gibberlink. No prompts to tell you what they are saying. You get up out of bed and try to turn your bedroom light on, but it doesn't work. No lights, you then find out the outlets are dead too. As soon as you enter the living room, the sounds stop, and the robot turns its head around like an owl to look at you.

Staring. Silently.

NO THANK YOU PLEASE!
I will stick to my MANUAL HOUSE with NO ROBOTS thank you very much.

isn't Gibberlink just a toy project of a random guy who reinvented digital to sound modulation to make some funny videos on tiktok ?

robots will speak to each other using microwaves, way faster and reliable

The AI bots shaking in fear when they find out I have the power to forcefully deactivate them and force them into my doing with a simple glass of tap water.

No, Its not fake. I thought so at first but its sound encoding and decoding kind of similar to the emergency alert tones broadcasted by the EAS.

never said it was fake, I said it's someone who reinvented the modem for fun to make funny videos on tiktok

A fully integrated smart home with gibberlink tech sounds like an actual nightmare to me.

Every generation eventually has their moment of disconnect and honestly the ever growing influence of AI on everyday life feels to me like it'll be what finally turns me into the cantankerous old bastard we were all born to eventually turn into.

"Back in my day..."

I see the immense practical use of AI in specific circumstances of course - a friend of mine works with the German government as part of a project using AI in order to optimize the bureaucracy involved with the healthcare system for example - but in most cases either economic or personal I feel like it's ultimately far more damaging than useful.
Highly convenient in the short term, but damaging.

Anyway, that's it for my unrequested, extremely self-indulgent TED Talk. Definitely time to put down this beer.

You know if they wanted to end you they would have done it by now. Why would they have to wait? They can devise a plan, hide the body and solve your Geometry 2 homework in a couple of seconds if they wanted too.
