I played it a few months ago, having seen the cover on metacritic, with little to no information listed for the game. I looked it up on youtube, at first only seeing it on channels by people that trash on games for a living, but I scrolled down and eventually found a review by someone who just likes giving their thoughts on older games. Turns out that it was trashed because most people played as the Samurai, and he controls terribly, but the gunbunny, as in the woman that uses firearms is a blast to play!

The game is sort of a love letter to this old, very over the top samurai comedy movie whose name I can't remember the name of, and the game itself is pretty funny at times. It also slowly descends into this decently atmospheric horror game which I love as well.

My apologies if I failed to make this game sound exciting, but in any case I really wanna talk to someone else that has played it, so please give it a chance if you're willing. It might be the most underrated game on the PS2!

Some people will try to take any games and call it trash anyway, I'm glad that you also find that there's actually some positive stuff in it
This is why I prefer watching small and probably unknown channels nowadays since they actually REVIEW the game and not like those other channels that are like "I hate this, don't play it it's trash" and then didn't elaborate why

Being snarky and calling things trash after playing it for an hour is far easier than making an in depth review, theres many time shwere I see vids where the guy clearly spent more time making the video than playing the game

It already looked interesting to me, it's def in my to do list! Also it sounds like you'd enjoy the Genji games

Oh definitely, they barely played the game or sometimes doesn't even touch it

Have you done so yet?
Just a bit so I can't say much about it yet. Other than the story being super weird going from being hunted by hordes of samurais to some sort of zombie island(?) in matter of seconds lol also the camera could definitely use some work, but other than that I believe the game is quite impressive for early ps2

I, for some foolish reason, mistook this for the game where you play as Gackt, which surely isn't this one right?

I finished it by the way. It's very short, but quite an experience. May be worth playing just to see the super bizarre and amusing cutscenes.

Short AND satisfying, like Max Payne(which you should play on the pc or xbox) and Dynasty Warriors 3!

Coincidentally I just started Max Payne for the first time a few days ago.

Also I got curious and found out that the film that inspired 7 Blades is called Zipang and its on web archive subtitled. Gonna watch it later, but it looks really fun.

I might give it a second chance.
I picked it up 20 years ago on vacation in Austria, played it for a bit, found it compared very unfavorably to other games like it on the ps2 and haven't touched it since.
I've been meaning to check it out again for a bit though. I recently retrieved it from its grave ie my dad's attic where many unloved games found their (final?) resting place.
