Words Worth (English Patched) Windows

This is a remake of the 1993 PC-98 version of Words Worth developed by Elf released on March 1st, 1999 for Windows. This version is superior to the original since it has better quality artwork with better designed character art and more detailed CGs. It also has a way more engaging battle system reminiscent of something like Elder Scrolls Daggerfall or King's Field with real time battles instead of the 1 on 1 turn based of the original that was very limited and dull in comparison. It also has FMVs along with voice acting and a soundtrack that sounds jazzy and doesn't use MIDI.

Note: All necessary story dialogue needed to complete the game has been translated. What's not translated are most all menu ui and settings graphics and other misc. graphics. The subtitles in the FMVs aren't translated although some of them are dubbed. This group should have been called Grift Translation since they had the nerve to charge people $9.95 to download patches that were half-baked and not at a quality that is expected of fan translations these days. It's a good thing they no longer exist.

How to Run:

1. Mount the iso file using File Explorer or an app for that if you have one and follow these instructions:
2. Open Menu.exe as admin and click the Words Worth logo at the top
3. Click the second choice in the menu and choose 1.17 GB and click the bottom right button (this is next button)
4. Choose IndeoVideo and click next again
5. Leave everything as default and click next again (or alternatively if you click off you can install to a folder of your choice instead of WWXP, but you'll need to create the folder first and click the top button to pick it)
6. Click the button between the storage amount and the bottom button (but not that button as that is cancel)
7. Let the installer finish and click the button to go back to the first window and then click the button above the elf logo to close.
8. Copy/paste the files from the folder that had the iso to the install directory (minus the iso since you don't need it anymore)
9. Launch the game using ww_english.exe and enjoy the game (it's a good idea to create a shortcut to that and use it on desktop or start menu)
10. Since this game uses Indeo video codec I included the setup for it (iv5setup.exe) to install pick custom install and uncheck the browser plugin at the bottom of the checklist before installing (as typical install will fail) Although I'm not sure if it actually needs it.

For clarity and sanity here is a video of me doing the install procedure. Ignore all the junk I have on my laptop lol

Note: this game will not work properly on Win 10/11 without dgVoodoo since pressing space will crash the game every time. I've fixed it to work with dgVoodoo and gave it what I feel like is the best looking display configuration for it. If you would like to alter the display (like change filter or resolution options) then open dgVoodooCpl.exe as admin. In case my config doesn't stick when using it on yours here's a screenshot of it:

Warning: picking up Belladonna's mushroom when in Full Screen has been known to crash the game. To get past that spot you can temporarily set dgVoodoo to Windowed and then save after getting it. (thanks to The_Real_Thing once again for this info)
