Game Description:

Digimon World: Next Order (Japan) (デジモンワールド -next 0rder-) is a RPG video game published by Bandai Namco Games released on March 17th, 2016 for the VITA.


Vita3k Compatibility (PC): It works until it crashes when opening the chest at Jijimon's house. So don't do that! it may also crash by doing other things I haven't tested further.

This patch is by Geo, an older patch existed but for the Asia version of the game. This is the Japanese version and the patch is better.

2025.05.21: Version 0.0.3 - Text and DLC fixes:
- Fixes a bug introduced in the previous version where certain symbols in Digimon profile descriptions failed to display.
- All overflowing descriptions of Attack Moves have been fixed, though some had to be shortened.
- Metadata for all the "hacked" DLC has been updated to use the correct ID for the Japanese version of the game.
Previously, they used the Chinese version's ID. While this didn't affect actual Vita consoles, it did cause issues on the Vita3K emulator, which was placing the DLC in the wrong folder based on the metadata
when installing the game. This should now be resolved.

2025.05.17: Version 0.0.2 - More convenient naming:
- All the default names of Baby I Digimon have been changed to their katakana (Japanese) versions.
This makes it much easier for players when the game prompts them to name their Digimon, as the Japanese names are now pre-filled and can simply be accepted, no need to struggle with manually entering katakana.
As an added bonus, once Baby I Digimon with default Japanese names evolve into Baby II and beyond, their names will automatically switch to the appropriate English names based on their evolution.
This means your Digimon will have English names for 99,9% of the gameplay, which is much better.
- TL;DR: When the game asks you to name your newly hatched Baby I Digimon, just accept the default Japanese name.
From Baby II onward, your Digimon will automatically be given the correct English names.
- Most (if not all) the overflowing Digimon descriptions in their profiles should now be fixed at the cost of having them shortened.
- A few minor UI text tweaks.

What exactly is this?

This patch brings the full English translation to the Japanese version of Digimon World -next 0rder-. It's based on the unused partial English translation found in the game's files, with missing parts of text backported from the International Edition. Thousands of tweaks, edits, and full-fledged retranslations were made to improve the quality of the text and fix some UI flaws and other cosmetic issues.

Wasn't there already an English patch?

Yes, there is a patch for the Chinese version (PCSH00261). It's playable, but it has too many flaws. It was made by simply swapping the language files with the unused English ones found in the game's resource archive. Those files are incomplete, and a lot of text is missing from them altogether, resulting in some parts of the game being unplayable and some options inaccessible because their text strings are omitted (which leads to some text boxes and menu items being empty). There's also the cosmetic aspect: the unused English translation was seemingly developed for the PS4 version of the game and not intended for Vita (it was probably only included in its files for testing purposes), so the text often doesn't fit the UI and overflows. Also the English font in the Chinese version is ugly.

What makes this English patch better?

This patch has EVERYTHING translated, with no omitted text. A lot of work was put into editing the text to make it fit the UI as nicely as possible without actually hacking the game's code. The text was also heavily edited to improve its overall quality compared to what was there initially. The translation included in the Vita version's files seems like a pre-pre-alpha product, and, funnily enough, the "finalized" English text that was eventually officially released as part of the International Edition isn't much different from it. It only has a few improvements, with most of the egregious flaws and mistranslations left intact (they even got it dubbed by real actors, and hearing them actually pronounce some of the stupidly incorrect lines is hilarious because nobody apparently cared). There are a lot (and I mean A LOT) of cases of the English text in this game not making any sense whatsoever. Some tutorials straight-up lie to the player and explain the gameplay mechanics incorrectly. The characters in the story are often delirious and spout complete and total nonsense. Terminology is inconsistent and changes back and forth. Some different items are called the same, as are some unrelated game mechanics. Guess how Tamer Skills, Attack Moves and Digimon Stats are differentiated in the official localization? They're Skills, Skills, and... you guessed it, Skills. After going through all the text, it's hard not to conclude that at least 50% of it was machine-translated and left as-is in the official release. To be fair, this is typical for Bandai Namco, especially for the Digimon games (Cyber Sleuth suffers the same fate).

Anyway, an attempt was made to improve the sorry state of it all. Fixing all of this took a lot of time and effort, and there should be much less nonsense in the game's text as a result. But it's probably not fully gone. There's still a lot to improve.

Also, work has been done to restore all the dub names and terminology to the original (Japanese) ones.

What are the drawbacks of this English patch?

There's just one major issue, and it might be serious to some. For whatever reason, the Japanese version of the game doesn't accept anything but katakana (one of the Japanese alphabets) for any names you are asked to input. It means that, while everything is in English, you and your Digimon partners' names will be in Japanese, which is kind of annoying, but not game-breaking. Fixing this problem would require more-or-less deep game hacking knowledge, which I, the author of this patch, don't have. I've been asking for help with this in multiple places, including Reddit, but had no luck so far. The only knowledgeable person that responded asked for a considerable sum of money as payment for getting this done, which I can't afford to spend on a hobby project. If anyone can help or knows someone who can help with this for free, please contact me (see the contact info at the end).

What's left to do (ideally)?

  • Fix the katakana-only names issue (described above)
  • Fix overflowing Digimon descriptions in the Field Guide
  • Fix overflowing Attack Move descriptions
  • Fix all the occasional text formatting issues that are left

What do I need to play this?

You need a hacked PlayStation Vita with NoNpDrm and rePatch plugins. Unfortunately, this game doesn't work well on the Vita3K emulator as of writing this (May 2025).

What's included in the linked archive?

The game itself, its latest official update (v1.05), DLC (some are obtained from Sony's servers via NPS, but those missing from NPS are "hacked" in), and the English patch for the game.

How to install?

Copy all the folders (addcont, app, patch, readdcont, repatch) to your Vita's ux0 partition, then refresh the LiveArea using VitaShell. This will install the game, its update, all the DLC and the patch.

What DLC is there?

Three of the five Add-On Scenarios are built into the base Japanese version (while being separate purchaseable DLC in the Chinese version):

  • "The Elite Great Beautiful Girl Tamer is Here!" (Rina and V.V.'s scenario)
  • "The Battle of Crappy Fate!" (Scumon toilet takeover scenario)
  • "Revival! Three Gods of Ruin + That Guy" (Titamon, Gaioumon, Kuzuhamon and Metal Etemon scenario)

The other two Add-On Scenarios are included as DLC in addcont (obtained from NPS):

  • "The Mystery of Meicoomon" (Meicoomon scenario)
  • "-Return- The Crimson Claw Strikes Back" (Meicrackmon scenario)

All other DLC are simply bonus item sets, three are in addcont (obtained from NPS):

  • Training Start Dash Set
  • Special Agumon & Gabumon DigiEggs
  • Unknown Ultimate Evolution Core

Ten more are missing from NPS, so they are "hacked" and are in readdcont:

What File to get?

Vita Console: Get [NoNpDrm]
Vita3k: Get [vita3k] if exists, if not get [NoNpDrm]

Vita3k can install NoNpDrm rips, but it requires more processing power and memory. As a result, some Android devices may fail to install NoNpDrm, or take 3-4 times longer to do it. If you encounter a vita3k rip that shows up as 'demo' let me know and get the [NoNpDrm] instead.

Vita3k Installation:

Unless stated otherwise above, this is how to install it:

DON'T extract the .zip
Open Vita3k and choose "File" > "Install .zip" find the file, done!

Vita Console Installation:

1. Extract zip to ux0:/
2. Open vitashell and press triangle on the home menu and choose to refresh the livearea to make it show up.
