Game Description:
Resident Evil: True Directors Cut is a hack of Resident Evil: Directors Cut which aims to restore content from the various releases of the game such as Beta content, Trial, or original Japanese versions, these include:
- The original uncut FMVs from the Japanese version, alongside the full-color opening scene from the French and German Director’s Cut release.
- The Mansion’s Bathroom from the 01/31/1996 Beta version, which allows you to grab an extra Clip after unplugging the Water in Jill’s scenario.
- The Mansion’s 2nd Floor Right Stairs wall message in blood, from the Japanese Trial Edition of the game.
- The Mansion’s 2nd Floor Main Hall unknown music track, in the scene when Jill meets Barry again (”it’s reeaally powerful”), sourced from the 01/31/1996 Beta version (only on Easy and Original modes).
- And more to come.
The addition of more content to this mod is in the works, mainly the restoration of the backgrounds from the memos that were present in the Japanese releases.
Included are two versions, Original Soundtrack hack and Dualshock Soundtrack, pick your preferred version.

RB's Notes 1: Added ASM addendum by Dacaskos, which modifies the base hack as follows:
Gameplay Changes:
Spoiler ▶
-Movement: 360° analog movement relative to the camera, inspired by the N64 version of RE2. The code checks for camera transitions so that, as long as there is no change in action (for example: Walk > Run, Run > Walk, Stop, Aim, etc.), the movement reference angle remains from the previous camera. This allows continuous movement between screens. Use this to quickly change direction when the camera switches.
-Backward rotation on the D-Pad has been increased, effectively acting as a manual "Quickturn".
-Tactical Reload: R1 + Triangle to reload the weapon. IMPORTANT: Due to technical limitations, the game's auto-reload has been removed, so reloading must be done manually.
-Quick disarm: The speed of lowering and raising the weapon is tied to the default aim button (R1). Release R1 while aiming to lower the weapon faster. You can also double-tap R1 for faster aiming, but doing so disables automatic aim tracking.
-Knife Support: By default, the character always has a knife equipped whenever no weapon is selected. Because of this, having a knife item in the inventory is no longer necessary (you start the game without the combat knife in the inventory).
-Fast knife attacks: Knife attack recovery has been sped up.
-Safe Reload (optional): Reload animations freeze enemies for their duration. Toggle on/off with the Select button (off by default).
-Infinite Ink Ribbons (you still need to have at least one in the inventory to save).
-Chris now has 8 inventory slots.
Important Notes and Known Issues:
Spoiler ▶
-Chris 8 Slots: Some concessions and code changes were required to support 8 inventory slots for Chris. Notably, in the memory space allocated for the inventory, Chris's last two slots are shared with the first two slots of the sections where you control Rebecca. This means that any item in Chris's last two slots will also appear in Rebecca's first two slots, and vice versa.
Because of this, Rebecca's Beretta has been removed (she will use a knife by default). Additionally, to reduce the chances of softlocking the game due to inventory overflow, it is now possible to use healing items even when health is full, allowing items to be discarded if necessary.
-As a visual bug, especially after memory card loads or cutscenes, the item icons in Chris's last two slots may duplicate or copy the icon from the first slot. Removing and re-adding the items via the Item Box fixes this.
-Reloading must always be done manually using R1 + Triangle (or by combining ammo in the inventory). The game's automatic reload has been removed.
-During the Plant boss fight, keep in mind that Reload Freeze does not stop the acid dripping from the ceiling. This can potentially softlock the game if you run out of ammo and get hit during the reload animation, preventing the reload from completing. It is recommended to disable Reload Freeze for this boss.
