Patch Version 1.2
Release Date 02 January 2026

Castlevania - Eternity of Sorrow is a full-game romhack and a sequel to the bad ending of Dawn of Sorrow. Created by WetBandAid(feels), this mod features a new story, modified tilesets, new magic seals(very hard but optional), and a new castle. Some areas of the game have been altered more more than others. The first area for example has little in the way of map alteration. This is due to me learning the mod tools as I made the mod. Most enemies no longer drop XP. Only bosses

The new story follows Soma as he fights through the afterlife trying to find a way back to the living world.

Julius mode is completable. In Julius mode you can go straight to the final boss from the start if you wish and you will not miss out on any story if you do so. However you may want to defeat a few bosses for levels first.

The mod only works with an original US rom version of Dawn of Sorrow on the DS. Does not require touch screen

  • Minor Bugs:
  • Some typos (Just gonna leave them in, they kinda funny)
  • In Julius mode, 100% map completion cannot be achieved as this mode skips the enemy gauntlet before the final boss.
  • In Julius mode the game may crash upon beating the final boss depending on your emulator or if you’re using an actual DS. This is fine as there is no dialogue in the epilogue for Julius mode and a crash here thematically fits this ending.
  • There may be some graphical glitches on an actual DS if you move through rooms too quickly. This bug may have been present in the vanilla game but harder to replicate.

UDATE 1.2

  • One bug fix: Removed an unnecessary boss door in a late game area that would not open in Julius mode, even upon defeating the boss

UPDATE 1.1

  • Touch screen version has been removed as updating two versions is quite time consuming. The only version now available is the no-touch needed version
  • Nerfed Mina’s Talisman and Dainsleif as these 2 early game items vastly outscale many items in the game
  • Restored a few ice block walls that were temporarily set as boss doors
  • Bug report: In Julius mode one of the boss rooms will softlock the game. Standby for an update
  • MAJOR BUG FIX:
  • If you used the first version of the no-touch screen version of the mod then you will get stuck in Balore’s boss room. The patch has been updated to allow breaking of ice blocks with weapons. When updating the mod, apply patch DIRECTLY TO A VANILLA ROM and replace your old one.
  • Possible recurring bug:
  • When entering a mirror, it’s possible to get trapped in the mirror room. This doesn’t always occur but be sure to save before entry just in case!
  • Known bug: Hard mode/ NG+ may not spawn the first magic seal, meaning you may have to use glitches to access balore and flying armor
