What is Card Mode?
Circle of the Moon was a great Castlevania game, but the card system left something to be desired. Cards being dropped solely from enemies was less than desirable, since it meant that the main gimmick of the game was locked behind a game of dice. This mod makes the cards more accessible by placing them in specific locations around the world. Enemies who did drop cards now instead drop meat, as a nod to the classic style Castlevanias. Cards are generally placed in an ascending order of power; you won’t get big bone powers by searching the early areas.
Updated on 14/01/2020
Changelog:
Moved pointers to be compatible with COTM translation mods.
Gave Devil in the Observatory Shinning Armor as a rare drop, made Mirror Mail a common drop.
Notes:
- PermanentDash Mod: Can you collect the boots? yes, pretty soon, inside Catacombs, but they will have no use, because the protagonists has permanent running enabled.
- DefinitiveEdition: You can skip movies wtih Start.
Which is suggested to play?
- Most modern version: PermanentDash 1.0 DevAnj - DefEdition 1.0 Mureisky - CardMode v2.0 DevAnj
- The PermaDash is something out of the original game mechanics, be warned, it drastically changes playstyle & difficulty. Not the original sauce.
- (My preference) Most core-improved version: AutoDashBoots 1.0 DevAnj - DefEdition 1.0 Mureisky - CardMode v2.0 DevAnj
- Same as above, but with traditional Dash Boots instead of permanent ones. You need to →→ to run.
- Suggested for the most core-improved version.
- If you prefer to farm cards from mobs, instead of hunting them in the labyrinthine game, avoid a CardMode mod.
- Definitive edition without CardMode simplifies too much the card hunting for a few people's tastes (see comments), because they will drop 100% every mob kill. If that's you as well, then avoid it and get the AutoDashBoots 1.0 DevAnj.
- If even more conservative, the plain old game is amazing!
