About Data-Data / Audio-Data Modes:

In the majority of cases, those burning to CD-R can use either of the CDI patches. However, many NTSC-J VA0 Dreamcast consoles suffer from incompatibility with Data/Data mode discs. Conversely, there are later model VA2 Dreamcast consoles that don't support Audio/Data mode discs, making Data/Data mode ideal. Unless a player is using an NTSC-J VA0 console, it's advised they start with the Data/Data mode patch. Should issues arise when attempting to boot the disc, they should move on to the Audio/Data mode version.
