In this case: The content is literally 8-11 year old child flashing her panties, and implied sex or other close skinship between characters in child bodies of 6-10 year range. This is not just about "freedoms" even veiled like that the content might be illegal in many countries targeting the release. While the content is likely more tactful than description of it, there would likely be no way over christian hell that you could have uncencored version globally released with this game. Like I generally agree especially with silly stuff to the bravely default games and so much more where sexy is the new bad but here an attempt at uncencored release would been damned as hell. Gladly, this is closest version to uncencored, crashes and no translations for that aside.Censorship is bad, it doesn't matter how small it is.
I will always want to play the closest to the creator's original idea, even if i don't agree with him.
People will always say stuff like
"Dut the changes are so small"
"They only remove X scene because of the violence"
"It doesn't affect the game"
IDGAF, I will never support censorship doesn't matter how small or how correct you think it is to remove some content.
Living in a country with no freedom of expression really makes you appreciate that privilege and really makes you hate any kind of censorship.
This is known and stated with the patch notes. You should just avoid doing that.Thank you for you great work!
I've reached episode 2 and I've encountered the known bug:
reading some entries in "Survival guide" -> "System guide" crashing the game.
But in my case, simply opening the "System guide" menu crashes the game.
I can't read any other entry. Is there a workaround or a possible upcoming fix?
That is not spike chunsoft fault, that is legislation fault for imposing terrible rules to rating system. Resident evil 2 remake showed how bad things have gotten, especially in Japan. Even Sony had to walk back their WE DON'T CARE attitude to the scrub anything resemble possible sexual. It's infuriating, not to mention the recent ruling in the US that it ok for government to require ID for pr0n sites or even just art with a hint of sex.Older Spike Chunsoft games.
I feel you there. Spike Chunsoft has an amazing library of games that's still worth digging into.
Sadly, Spike Chunsoft have been super ultra censorship heavy with their releases (especially localizations) since at least 2019.
It is the original Japanese version with official translation. CG is not censored. Removed content is untranslated but there. Text has formatting issues. In terms of CG it is not censored, in terms of text, it may or may not be, some sources say the text is "heavily censored" but I personally have been skeptical as people have not made any comparisons of show, just claims. And like said, the localized text still includes some heavy stuff from the game.Wait, so this is the censored version? Well, that killed my interest.
Yeah, that's fair enough. For the record, I was only asking if it was the censored version as someone who hasn't played the game, and mention what I've heard by word of mouth. Knowing it still has that type of story untouched is good to know, since idk what else could get worse than that in a D rated game. I still think any game censorship is garbage and consider any amount too much because it feels patronizing, but the kind of content it changes from what you've listed isn't a hill I'd die on or dissuade me from playing from it being cut, unlike if it were actual plot.I do not enjoy censorship but I did not have a bad time with the localized game, which I initially pirated, enjoyed it enough to be willing to buy it from sale and likely replay especially after playing through Hundred Line. It is not like they cut out main characters being children, or the child main cast member entirely out, and the sexually tensioned monologue is there still at the start making me question just a bit what was supposedly toned down. There is also generally one of the most brilliant gimmicks in story telling used in this game that I do not want to spoil for first timers, but overall, I am much happier having played through the localized version of Zanki Zero than not playing it at all. I would like to know what was toned down when stories talking about incest and such dark topics are there without apparent aversion. When it is swinging such punches straight to chin it is bit hard to imagine which punches are being supposedly pulled. I would recommend ZZ easily to fans of DRompa or Zero Escape trilogy, be the game cut or text janky on your vita screen, localization pulling some punches or elusion to child love. While in context of the story, "it is not that bad I swear it makes sense in most ways possible" the removal is also "Makes sense in most ways possible". The things in that list is hardly "so much" of the game, and people need to give better side by side examples of toned down content than just claiming it is so to get better grasp of it myself. Like said, it does swing some heavy stuff still left and right even in localized form.

Maybe I confused it with another game or got false info? I still question why they'd decide to localize this with so much controversial stuff to cut out lol.
Going by the gbatemp thread, the creator just took the PS4´s translation and inserted it into the japanese Vita version(which explains why its only translated 90% as well).
So basicly, while it presumably contains the original CGs and outright cut content(bedtime events for characters in child form)its untranslated and the rest of the localized dialogue is still in its toned down form.

Zanki Zero: Last Beginning Localized Release Changes - Spike Chunsoft
Zanki Zero: Last Beginning comes to the PlayStation 4 and Steam on April 9, 2019! Pre-order the retail version now to secure your copy of the Day 1 Edition, which includes the Zanki Zero: Last Beginning Survival Soundtrack, a physical soundtrack with over 30 tracks from the game. Which is why the assumption. People report dialogue changes but when most people are not dual language people willing to write down every line and play the 70 hour game through twice, it is bit hard to verify stuff. In this case, any of those changes stay, the text formatting also does not fit vita well and I think quotations cause just very big spaces between words, and removed scenes and dialogue is *likely* not translated unless fixed. If people with more time and will got their hands on this they could likely make uncencored relocalized edition out of this but no such interest popped up yet.
Yes, they were very clear:You're the only one here mentioning that, so kinda projecting what you think about.
Anyway, I just remember the release controversy of this because it mentioned something about censored dialogue and they weren't that transparent about what was altered or something. Personally, I prefer not to be spoonfed what localizers deem appropriate for me and having work altered from something they could just not localize at all.
You're the only one here mentioning that, so kinda projecting what you think about.Pretty sure a good game should remain a good game even if you remove scenes with "young child-like characters showing their panties" and it's weird that y'all care so much

No afaik that is android only I test on PC.Have you test it in vita3k ZX?
I can attest: This tru, as much as I am against cencorship I can also understand the case in this game and main stuff gets accenuated enough even without the hyper underline these scenes would give.Pretty sure a good game should remain a good game even if you remove scenes with "young child-like characters showing their panties" and it's weird that y'all care so much

Older Spike Chunsoft games.Really love Spike Chunsoft games...shame it doesn't work on emulator....someday maybe
Here is few I decided to take. I took longer with it since I wanted some screenshots of first dungeon/gameplay moments rather than tutorial stage which takes time, and story moments so there are surprises even in opening prologue of the game.@xaazic Thank you for taking the time to take and upload the pictures here!
This game is kinda like 999. It is creepy but not outright horror. Well. it is bit harder in that regardFrom
I didn't know this title: from the video in the steam page I see things are getting quite creepy, so I will give up on this one.
Still, good for anyone else who can't play it otherwise than on Vita; I'm always happy when I see a new English Patch, even if I won't play it ^_^
I dunno about a ton, but some material was cut in localization, mainly main underaged girl showing her panties is cut off.Is this the original uncensored? I remember the localization cut a ton.

Have you test it in vita3k ZX?I patched this, no screenshots cos it doesn't work on emulator.
If someone has a vita and can take some it would be cool.
if not "trust me bro" the game works (allegedly) and is cool.
good work spike! another one to add to the list of playthroughs :)I patched this, no screenshots cos it doesn't work on emulator.
