Recently, I was tidying up my house buying new furniture and giving some away and I remembered I have a PS2 with many games I bought back in the day and I found myself at a crossroads 'either let it all go or resurrect it., so, I chose the second option and after buying an HDMI cable and I moved on to the controllers.

My original PS2 controller still works well, but sooner or later it will break and in the used market parts will either run out or become overpriced, therefore, after some research I purchased the Wingman USB adapter, which on their site states 'Wingman PS2 supports more than 135 controllers, including controllers such as PS5, PS4, XB 1, Elite2 and XB 360; so you can play your favorite games without restrictions'.

So, which third-party controllers have you personally tried and know that they worked? And which ones gave you problems?

They worked perfectly for me:

DualShock 3

Hori Fighting Stick mini (originally bought for PS3)

They have problems:

ESM 9100Pro Game Controller by EasySMX:

There was no way to get it to initialize at all.

K-Pad Thorium Wired Gaming Controller by The G-lab:
By switching between the available Direct Input and X-Input modes, it's possible to at least sync, but the button mapping is completely wrong compared to what it should actually be.

Why do you need wired controllers specifically?

Personally I bought both the old and the new version of the PS2 Wingman. I used the old one to play Yakuza start to finish with a Dual Shock 3 connected wirelessly. I used the new one to play Yakuza 2 start to finish with a Switch Pro controller wirelessly (on the old adapter it was giving me considerable input lag after a while).

I tested out a couple of fighting games with them and from a casual perspective they seem to function fine.
