What version of Persona 4 is better, Original or Golden?

Golden, its the definitve edition after all. But, the original is still good if you want to check it out after playing Golden.
i wanted to play the original first because of the semi-horror atmosphere, but golden has more content and quality of life improvements, so i dont know which is better.

Well, if you're planning to play both then I'd say start with the original, if not then golden. Those qol and extra content from golden that are missing from the original will make playing original after golden a bit awkward.

i think that the golden content is as a whole quite underwhelming, particularly the story content. i think the story content is quite awkwardly shoved in there. it's kind of like Strange Journey VS Strange Journey Redux, if you like what they add it's not a huge deal which one you play. but you aren't quite getting the original experience.

a significant amount of things were changed for the better in golden though, so take your pick. it's not persona 5 long but it's still a long game. consider which one you will play through carefully, since you probably won't be playing the second one any time soon. persona burnout is real, the calendar can be grueling.

It's a matter of personal taste. Golden has some extra content and some balance changes but most of the extra content is crap in my opinion and some party members being buffed isn't anything all that important in the grand scheme of things. The atmosphere of the original game is also fucked in Golden due to the PS Vita's limitations.

To me, Golden seems to be the most convenient as it's on the more modern platforms that have a little more qol improvements over the PS Vita original but the OG P4 has a very unique look to it for a late-gen PS2 game. Although I've heard that there is a patch for the PC ver. Golden that seems to restore the look of the OG PS2 version, it even works on PS Vita.

The benefit of the Golden version on Switch is that it has been translated into 7 languages, but OG Persona 4 on CRT is a real pleasure !

I just want to know which game version is better.
Golden, no question. Only downsides are the bright yellow and lack of fog effects, but those can probably be modded in with the PC release

Goldriginal.

I can’t really pick as I have gripes with both. Maria is a really terrible addition to the story, but the QoL improvements make golden better. Plus Chie no longer sounds like a 40 y/o chain smoker.

I actually like Chillies original English voice better than her replacement and the original Japanese. Her other voices kind of get on my nerves after i hear them talking for more than 5 minutes.

Oddly, I just started playing Persona 4 the Golden for the first time last night due to a power outage. GTo0lden is a better title overall, but good GOD does Chie's new voice suck. And not in the good way, either.
