In the last few days I've playing some sandbox games and when I play those I like to jam to something, kinda distract me further in that game
when it comes to the type of music i play its all over the place ngl but this YT vod is a good starter for me (i like peoples own remixes of other game music)

what music do you like to listen to with what game ?::smirk1

When I grind in Black Desert or Ragnarok or do some repetitive stuff in FFXIV.
I just start up my winamp and listen 15k songs playlist with video games ost.

Yes all tunes are legal I mean I spent 20 years buying CD OST and digital OST and heck allot games given me free OST with the game and GOG are expert of giving you free OST.

But yeah I got shit load of game soundtracks I listen to which make it´s easy to grind for hours.

Actually kind of a cool idea, I might try it soon

Depends on the game. I was playing the Silent Hill remake and I was listening to a lot of Bauhaus. Or with Armored Core I'll listen to a lot of breakcore, or David Bowie for Metal Gear. I guess I want to match the vibe of the game if that makes any sense.

i put youtube videos on like Darklordjadow, the party crashers, efap, magic the noah, papasea, purplecliffe. i did for a couple of months have aqua teen hunger force and about 40 toho movies playing in the background while i was gaming and doing other stuff.

Lately, I've been in the process of centralizing and importing my music collection onto my PC, and as such have been revisiting a lot of lovely tunes whilst gaming lately. Mostly a lot of vocaloid, to be frank. This one's a standout from Neru's second album.

All types of music. What fits my mood or the game the most usually. Currently i have three main types of music:

-Videogames ost: The safest one, currently i have been listening a lot to the Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania Soundtrack:

-Anime Songs/Vtubers Songs: I am vtuber fan, vtuber releases original music or cover, i probably listen to it. Shout out to Fauna for creating this banger I will miss you as fauna until you reincarnate in other being 🥲 :

-Metalcore,Emo, Pop Punk rock... is not a phase music: As the chilean meme says: "Mi mama no me deja ser hardcore". I love Bring Me the Horizon, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park. As a kid, as a teenager and now as young adult. Mom it was never a phase...

I always take advantage of games like that to listen to new music or albums that I have DL'd but haven't listened to yet. Otherwise I just default to whatever I am listening the most at the moment.

I usually listen to OSTs and/or BGMs of other VGs i enjoy like bayonetta series, DMC3, Monster Hunter, Tekken, Rockman X, Sonic the hedgehog (mainly Jun Senoue stuff), Demetori, Yugioh Master Duel themes (yugioh tracks in general), some Atelier and anything by Hiroyuki Sawano.

Other genres and/or artists i enjoy bumping while gaming is nujabes and gangstarr (hiphop), Nirvana, Jimmy eat world, Metallica, Linkin Park, Winnie, Killswitch engage, Abstracts (JP post-hardcore) and Penpals (the band that did the TELL ME WHY intro to Berserk).

In most games I listen to stuff like STP, Bad Religion, and Green Day.

A few years back when I was constantly grinding in World of Warcraft Classic I almost exclusively listened to Death Metal bands as my Tauren or Troll slayed Alliance players by the dozens. As I've aged I find myself preferring Black Metal and Doom Metal now, but I still love this music.

Out of all the tracks my brain associates with this time for me, I always felt like this song by Slugathor sort of embodied it the most. If you love bands like Bolt Thrower, definitely check these guys out.

I usually listen to the radio. WMMR. It's a rock station. But sometimes they play other stuff if people request it.

Generally, nothing specific. I have a big collection of digital music I've been accumulating since the early 2000s, as well as two streaming services with a lot of tracks at the ready. I just hit shuffle and off I go. However, there's been a few times where I had a specific song on loop for specific games. The ones I remember...

It is a super weird choice, but this was my Bloodborne anthem. BB was the first Soulslike that I got into and I had a rough time with some of the bosses. I insisted on beating everything solo, so I'd put this song on repeat and go at it until I was victorious!

Two for the price of one! I used to play a ton of Left 4 Dead 2 with friends and it was always on expert. If we started having trouble getting past a segment I would put one of these two on loop.

I had just gotten into Celldweller when I started playing Shadow of the Colossus. Whenever I was heading to the next battle or just exploring the map, I had this song on loop.

Yeah, I have a really weird tendency to pick the least fitting music for a game, but I'm a big fan of Soundtrack Dissonance, as TV Tropes would call it. Like the famous scene in Reservoir Dogs when Mr. Blonde tortures the cop to Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealers Wheel. That kind of shit gives me life.

Usually i listen to cute songs while playing butch games, like nightcore, wonder girls, touhou songs, cute anime songs, tommyfebruary6, baby metal and goreshit!

I'm referring to those records that you listened to while playing a certain game, for example:
I remember playing Sonic Adventure 2 while listening to Home by Dream Theater, especially the Egypt level (super hyped).
Another one that I remember Summoning (yes black metal dungeon synth whatever it's called) while playing Final Fantasy 7 hahaha! (Stronghold was the record, EPIC SHIT).
And one summer I spent listening to The Suburbs by Arcade Fire while playing Plants vs Zombies, it was a great summer.

To this day, Ocarina of Time is synonymous with "For the Masses" the Depeche Mode tribute album lol

Duplicate. @Waffles

I enjoy most of Dream Theater's stuff n luuuv Summoning. becuz of them n Obsequaie's influence I added both dungeon-synth n 'medieval' metal to my avant-garde black metulz project (which was originally inspired by Ulver's 1st 3 records n the late Diabolical Masquerade's discog primarily)

I would play turn-based tactics games such as Shining Force 1, 2 & 3 with back-to-back Melvins n Buckethead records goin xD this was towards the end of the 'dark ages' so I was listenin to the (overpriced, tough to find at the time) original physical disc copies.
