To Love-Ru Trouble Darkness: Battle Ecstasy (English Patched) VITA

Vita3k Compatibility (PC): Playable. Requires back touchpad controls at some point, idk if that's supported by vita3k? English translation v1.05 Author: froid_san Source: froidromhacks.com After another long hiatus finally finished another translation project upon the request of one of my good friends at vita3k. I never thought I’d do another translation project as life/health has been catching up on me. But my friend’s enthusiasm for the game kinda motivates me enough to do this project. So, for the fan of the manga and anime, you may thank him for this translation. The game may not be for everyone’s taste because […]

so this is in the "Vita games that include DLC" section, but from what i can tell/ looked up, it translates the DLC but does not include any of the DLC

Update:
Build 3784 made me past mission #2
Also, as commit goes
Fix crashes for games which call this functions more then once (with same target). For example [PCSB00882] SENRAN KAGURA ESTIVAL VERSUS
it fixed SKEV.

Seems like it's moving forward again... hope this didn't brake anything.
Worth checking out the update but remember to keep your older versions.

the game force closes in first mission
Same, fc after clearing first mission.
Then changed game settings to
  • Backend renderer > Vulkan
  • GPU > Mali-G57
  • Render > standard
  • Disable surface sync > Unchecked
  • Async pipeline comp. > Unchecked
  • Screen filter > Bilinear
  • Screen size > 0.75x
  • Anisotropic filtering > 1x
  • FPS Hack > Checked
  • Memory mapping > Double buffer
  • Change Vulkan sync method > Fifo relaxed
And got past the first mission when it crashed before.
Dunno if those settings are good for the whole game, but it's a good start.
Any OpenGL combo I tried just lead to a black screen.

Also note that I used the ZX fork of Vita3k (12.5 build 13) on a chinesium tablet.
And the nude patch.

Haven't tried this on pc.

EDIT: NVM, crashed at the end of mission #2. Will try later on PC.

I'll take AI translation over the modern translator who use Anime and games to vomit their political messages.
That's one more factor. It makes fan translation that much more approachable that someone without internet politics brain rot or could easily take up the mantle of getting an AI translation and tweaking it approprately. On the other hand, I guess there's nothing stopping someone from just slipping in a little bit of "trump is king" or "ew america" shit anyway.
....Rito is too much of a loser to have a game like this...
I, have mixed feelings.
To be fair, I'm sure just like the animes it's more just an outlet for weird dudes to fantasise about having a harem of girls that'll forgive them for molesting them all the time, than being about the actual character of Rito.

Well people can use AI to translate something, then tweak the translation to be less bland, boring or even accurate.
Making the robot do it, ideally, is only step 1. It's not like the idea is to put it through a machine and then call it a day, you gotta proof-read shit too

I have this game. It's.... a game,at least, compared to most anime game which is usually a visual novel (arena fighters are not quite a thing yet around this time, only the Storm series).
However,it's by Furyu... expect excessive grinding and recolored enemies. Heck, you only play as Rito with no costume changes whatsoever, only the weapon changes. A bit jank too.
The gameplay loop is this∶ enter dungeon, fight one of the girl as boss at the end, molest her (because she was controlled or something, idk),bring her home which unlocks a new gadget and repeat with a new dungeon. I didn't even finish it because it took too long for a run. Recommended? If you like To Love Ru enough. I did... at the time.

I much prefer the doujin series with Jojo punchline tho. Old fans would know.

Here is the limited edition. It comes with the game,a ”cord holder” where you wrap your cables on the girl,Yami sheet (whatever it is for,a big cloth poster of her)and dlc code (didn't have it as it was bought used)

Guys, what the hell is the point of using AI to make a translation if it's going to end up bland, boring or even inaccurate? People who speak multiple languages are still useful for a reason lol

Oh when I read this is Adult explicit theme I thought this is the lost nude modded version that someone was working but stopped years ago. It just the usual fanservice stuff like Seven Pirates and MonPieces.

Ooo, I dig that new (Machine Translated) tag, that's a really nice addition. Even if its not hand done its always nice to see new translations. Oh, and the anime girl booba is nice too I guess.

So this is a thread about anime girls boobas????

Either way original ip is shit, but was curious about that thing of machine translation

This isn't Shakespeare. This is a game where you rub the touchpad to simulate touching a drawing of a girl while she
moans.
hey, its just a pixel game where two dudes with swords kill eachother : ), no offense but that is just dumb, if im gonna waste hours into something i would prefer if they care about it too, that is usually how we get good stuff in general. : )

Translated DLC is included here?

I already have it back from NPS but it's v1.00, but haven't really played it.
Might replace it with this one.

Fair point, well made. As I said...didn't actually play this one and it doesn't seem like my vibe. I just have seen soooo many *awful* machine-translated visual novels where even with my limited Japanese knowledge I would find more enjoyment just playing the original and going through painfully slow with a kanji dictionary at my side than trying to figure out what the word salad is trying to say.

I remember my brother watching to love Ru back when he loved watching the ecchi genre of anime

Saving time is meaningless if the output is literal dogshit, though. Like, okay, he can churn out dozens of "translated" visual novels, but the translation at best is robbed of all soul and far too literally translated between non-analogous languages and at worst a garbled, incomprehensible mess. Good translation and good localization, at least currently, and especially in literary works and fictional media, requires human input. It also is FAR easier to just translate the text without the middle man than letting AI do the brunt of the work and attempt to fix its output.

Basically it amounts to the adage of "fast, cheap, and good...pick two." Machine translation almost universally hit the first two points well and never have I seen it hit the third. It's fine for things like action games, fighters, shmups, etc. but sorely lacking for RPGs, visual novels, and heavily story-driven titles.

I'm tagging this Machine translation. Even though it's far far superior than the other games tagged like that. This was AI translation revised by a person.
The others were just someone threw the script on a "worse than" google translate equivalent and left it as is. The difference is massive, this has much more quality than those.
But I'd like to acknowledge that there was never any Japanese translator with a pulse involved.

If you need proof check the video.

Entire point of llms is to solve for context. bad output with current multimodal ai models is almost always a lack of sufficient context rather than a fundamental capability gap. tbh, depending on which ai model is being used (i.e. is it multimodal) and how you could just create an end-to-end automated OCR-to-translation pipeline. Helps with scene context and generally gets you about the same quality as a professional localizer. Right now this requires some knowledge of how to setup but we're likely getting to a place where the ai model itself comes with this functionality fairly soon. tl;dr: scene context ambiguity can be ameliorated through enough screen shots fed to an ai model.

Even if it does end up being not so accurate, it saves a lot of time for the guy (froidsan) doing the translation patch.
